A reserve at Rio 2016, the 27-year-old archer from Shoreham-by-Sea made her Olympic debut in Tokyo, reaching the round of 16.

In 2022, she won GB’s first individual recurve World Cup medal for a decade with gold in Antalya, and also won World Games silver, helping her become the first British archer to top the recurve world rankings for 24 years at the start of 2023.

A History graduate from Northumbria University, she also has a Masters degree in Intelligence and Security from Brunel University.

Smart off the archery range and sharp on it, Pitman could get within touching distance of the medals if she finds form in Paris.

More from the Team GB women's quadruple sculls gold medallists on BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast.

Lola Anderson: "I think Lauren Henry, our Bow girl knew first, she was confident from about 600 metres out that we were going to come through. Lauren said that she saw on the board GBR and one on the board and she started screaming, it didn't sound like sad screaming."

Lauren Henry: "I think quite a lot of the cameras caught me crying my eyes out. I was lucky to have my team-mates around me to hold me together a bit and also help me celebrate and take in the moment.

"We're not used to this type of media coverage following us around. For me personally, that was very overwhelming, even more so getting our phones back and seeing a huge outreach."

    BBC 5 Live Breakfast

Great Britain's women's quadruple sculls gold medallists Lauren Henry, Lola Anderson, Georgina Brayshaw and Hannah Scott were on BBC 5 Live Breakfast, here's what they had to say...

Hannah Scott: "I think if I was honest, you'd think I was quite mad but I was calm. I knew that the Dutch would always kind of maybe go out but in the last 25 meters I was still confident we were going to get it back and I was just calling for that for the girls. We were pretty confident that we'd still come through.

"When we watched the race back, we realised it was pretty close. You never panic in an emergency and that's what we were doing. We were just keeping chilled and getting our best race."

Georgina Brayshaw: "We have a set race plan, Hannah calls the race plan from start to finish. She's done that for the past two years. We've done the same race plan, we all know it by heart now.

"Hannah's calling through it and making any calls if she thinks we need to change anything and then Lauren's looking out and feeding stuff to Hannah and Hannah's feeding it to Lola who is feeding it to me. It's a massive teamwork. We all have our individual parts but it all comes together in one big machine. Everyone's got their part to play."

Great Britain's Kieran Reilly won silver in the men's BMX freestyle on Wednesday. Here's what he said to BBC 5 Live Breakfast.

"The last three years revolved around the Olympics for me, to make sure I prepared the best I could to get here. To achieve the dream of being an Olympian was one thing, but putting the run down to get on the podium was extraordinary. I left it all out there. When I finished the run, I emptied the gas tank. Competitions like the Olympics its a different mindset, everyone wants to go for gold. It was special.

"Starting BMX, you didn't dream of the Olympics, you weren't here, for me this dream started three years ago in Tokyo. I wasn't a competitive rider, I was known more for social media and I really wanted to change the direction. I'm so proud it paid off."

Up first, though, is the single sculls semi-finals. No Team GB participants in either the men's or women's race for that.

But it is now less than an hour until Mathilda Hodgkins-Byrne and Rebecca Wilde go in the women's double sculls final.

A lot of people, in the golf community, think there's an opportunity to mix it up and maybe do something different but in fact what they've done, it's a 72 hole stroke play, just as it is on the tours around the world. It's the lowest score over 72 holes, 60 players in each field.

It's very straight forward, what we've seen in the previous Olympic tournaments, it works very well. In Tokyo, there was a seven man play-off for bronze medal. Any other golf tournament, no one bothers about third.

'To say my dad would have been proud is really touching'published at 08:16 British Summer Time 1 August

Great Britain's women's quadruple sculls rowing team have been on BBC Breakfast this morning after winning gold medals, beating the Netherlands in the final by 0.15 seconds.

One of the rowers, Lola Anderson, has spoken about the reaction to her emotional post-race interview. She spoke about how her late father kept a note from when she was 14, saying she would be an Olympic gold medallist.

"I've been a little bit taken aback by how many people have seen the post-race media. Everyone can relate unfortunately at some point in life to grief one way or another and losing a loved one. The amount of support and just amazing comments from complete strangers that have reached out just to say well done and to say reassure me and say my dad would have been proud is really touching.

"I guess it shows how unique and special it is to be part of something like this at the Olympics really brings people together from all walks of like and I'm very, very proud to be here with these girls. I wouldn't be here without these girls as well.

"I feel like for me that the part of that story that really sticks with me is yes, obviously it kind of has a bittersweet note to it with the fact my dad is no longer with us, but what I'm really proud of is the face that just like any parent, my mum as well, and all of my teammates' parents, they all believe in you before you have the chance to believe in yourself. As a young girl, I was quite embarrassed by how big my dreams sounded before I had the chance to realise it. I didn't back myself to so I threw it (the note) away.

"When you've got your parents and your loved ones and your support, it doesn't where it comes from, they are always around you to pick you back up when don't believe in yourself, they help you cross that finish line."
