That could be that for Rory McIlroy.

The Team Ireland man, hot on the heels of the leaders, attacks the island 15th green and lands in the drink.

A double bogey six sees McIlroy slope back to 15 under and into a share of sixth.

Meanwhile, La Marseillaise rings out as Victor Perez approaches the 18th green next door.

Perez is a shot off the medals as it stands but can’t get the birdie which Le National craves.

Incredible round from the Frenchman though - he’s the clubhouse leader on 16 under.

    Gymnastics - men's vault final

Harry Hepworth is second to go in this semi-final and his average of 14.949 is enough to put him at the top of the leaderboard.

Still a long way to go, though.

Ukraine's Nazar Chepurnyi is the only other competitor to have gone so far.

Chepurnyi earned an average of 14.899 over his two attempts.

Alcaraz holdspublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 4 August

    *Djokovic 7-6 (7-3) 4-5 Alcaraz - gold medal match

You can't take things for granted against Novak Djokovic. Carlos Alcaraz is 40-0 up and tries to dink over a drop shot to wrap up the hold.

It falls short at the net, though, and that's enough motivation for Djokovic to make a charge, bringing us to deuce.

But there's still no breakthrough. Alcaraz finishes the game off with a fiery overhead winner.

This would be the perfect time for the Spaniard to make his move.

How ties for medals will be decidedpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 4 August

    Jonathan Jurejko
BBC Sport at Le Golf National

Think it's time to answer what you're all thinking.

What happens if there is a tie in the medal positions? (Like there currently is between Tommy Fleetwood and Jon Rahm for gold.)

    Sudden-death play-off time, that's what.

    • If there are two players tied for the lead they will play off for gold and silver
    • If three players tied for the lead, they will play off to determine gold, silver and bronze
    • If there are two players tied for second they will play off for silver and bronze
    • If multiple players are tied for third they will play off solely for bronze

  8. gymnastics

Hepworth back for second final of the daypublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 4 August

    Gymnastics - men's vault final

Harry Hepworth became the first British male to feature in the Olympic rings final earlier today but he was unable to secure a medal.

Hepworth's 14.800 was only enough for seventh place.

He's about to go in the vault final. Will he fare any better?

A moment of history for Francisca Crovetto Chadid and Chile but a moment of controversy that will be talked about for days and weeks to come. On the slow motion replay we saw the clay had been hit on the right hand side by Amber Rutter, which is a hit, you don't have to hit them in the middle. But what a moment for Francisca Crovetto Chadid.

Right then, the last final of the day sees Brits Jake Jarman and Harry Hepworth in action.

While the other apparatus sees each gymnast get one go, on the vault the athletes will get two chances and their final score is an average of the two.

Hepworth is up second, then Jarman.

    Away we go.

Chile's Francisca Crovetto Chadid doesn't miss and makes history taking her country's first ever shooting gold.

Amber Rutter has to settle for silver, still an impressive competition from the 26-year-old, just three months after the first of her first child

Djokovic has finally ditched the cap. The sun has gone in and it’s actually quite pleasant outside.

Despite being on top in this match - and, I reckon, in this set as well - he’s still got plenty to say to his support box, who are doing an excellent job of not taking it personally and instead encouraging him to lift himself and keep pushing.
