There are moments in your life when you get goosebumps in sport - that was it!

Under incredible pressure, Kaylia Nemour from Algeria needed 15.5 and she linked every single skill. She caught at full-stretch and that deserves to go into first place.

    That was ridiculous!

    Boxing - women's 75kg - quarter-final

It's all-action from the bell with the shorter Cindy Ngamba stepping forward, closing the distance and landing some solid one-twos.

Davina Michel is very flat-footed and happy to play on the counter but that plan doesn't seem to be panning out too well as she's caught with a left down the middle and is only held up b the ropes.

Michel is warned about holding from the referee as Ngamba lands some short shots.

Ngamba takes the first round 3-2 on the scorecards.

The enormity of the occasion is not getting to Francisca Crovetto Chadid at all. She is embracing the pressure, looking very comfortable indeed. She is hitting the clay like it is 20 or 30 centimetres instead of 11 centimetres wide.

Becky Downie knew that if she wanted to get that medal, she needed to up that difficulty. She did that and unfortunately it didn't quite come to fruition today.

She can definitely walk away with her head held high and know that she gave it her all. I know that all of her family are out here so she'll be going straight to see them after this final.

I'm also really excited to Kaylia Nemour from Algeria, who is French-born and will have the home support.

A HUGE score with difficulty of 7.200.

That is going to take some beating.

China's Qiu Qiyuan takes the top spot with a wonderful routine that scores a whopping 15.500. That pushes Becky Downie off the podium, with Belgium's Nina Derwael down to second and Italy's Alice D'Amato into third.

There are heart-warming scenes at the end as Qiuyan and her team-mate Yihan Zhang, who fell off the bar earlier, grasp one another's hands as they wait for the scores to come through and then share a huge hug.

Cindy Ngamba, who was the flagbearer for the Refugee Olympic Team at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, has won 25 of 29 fights as an amateur with seven of those victories coming inside the distance.

In 2024, nine of Ngamba's 10 trips to the ring have ended in victory, including coming from a round down to beat Canada's Tammara Thibeault in her first bout at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Wednesday.

Thibeault was the third seed in the women's 75kg category and won gold at the world championships in 2022.

Next up is home hope Davina Michel - seeded sixth - and an 11th win of the year for Ngamba sets up a semi-final against either Atheyna Bylon of Panama or Poland's Elzbieta Wojcik.

Poor old Niamh Fisher has to hop off her bike and wait for a new one. Then moments later the New Zealand rider realises something's wrong with that one too.

It takes an age for her support car to get in position to fix that one and they do so while she's still in motion, with one fella leaning out of the passenger window to tinker with her gears. Finally she's all good and back in pursuit of the peloton.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's Olga Zabelinskaya has attacked off the front of the peloton and is closing in on the lead group.

Who is Cindy Ngamba?published at 15:05 British Summer Time 4 August

No member of the refugee Olympic team has ever won a medal a the Games - Cindy Ngamba is looking to change that today.

Ngamba is just making her walk to the ring to face France's Davina Michel knowing that victory will guarantee her a place in the semi-finals and at least a bronze medal.

The 25-year-old was born in Cameroon but moved to the UK aged 10.

After 15 years in the country she now calls home, going through the school system in Bolton, graduating from university with a degree in criminology and training with Team GB, Ngamba is still fighting for a visa and UK citizenship.

Ngamba took up boxing as a 15-year-old and has enjoyed a remarkable career in the amateur ranks, winning National titles in three separate weight classes - the only other woman to achieve that feat is two-weight world champion Natasha Jonas.

Such is Ngamba's talent that Team GB have twice attempted to add her to their Olympic programme but she is unable to join until she is granted UK citizenship.

Ngamba's right to remain in the UK was precarious before earning refugee status.

She is unable to return to Cameroon due to her sexuality - homosexuality in the country is punishable with up to five years in prison.

At 20, Ngamba was on the verge of being deported after attending what she thought was a routine signing-on process to let authorities know she was still in the country.

Ngamba was arrested, along with her brother Kennet, and sent from Manchester to a detention camp in London, for reasons she is still yet to get complete clarity on.

I guess, if it's any consolation, Becky Downie went for everything. She went all out. The standard at this Olympic Games is probably one of the best I have ever seen, so you can't just go up there and do an easy routine.

What a shame for her - I thought she had that! Everything she did was fantastic and we are talking about fine margins, she didn't miss it completely, she actually had her hands on the bar.

She is much more than this bar routine - she has done so much for women's gymnastics.
