I’m at the North Paris Arena for the boxing preliminaries, with Britain’s Delicious Orie in action later on this evening.

The venue looks absolutely sensational lit up…

…and with the lights on. Bottom right of the picture is Phryge, the mascot, doing a series of dance moves that I would describe as enthusiastic but uncoordinated. I enjoyed it, anyway.

The pressure is onpublished at 18:57 British Summer Time 29 July

    Gymnastics - men's team final

The USA's Paul Juda has just produced a fantastic pommel routine under such great pressure.

Shortly before that Ukraine's Nazar Chepurni was on the floor but his routine did not go as well as he would have hoped as he fell out of his triple twist in the closing sequence.

That could open the door for Great Britain as Harry Hepworth has just scored 14.700 for his routine.

Floor is a huge strength of Team GB, we have Jake Jarman and Luke Whitehouse in the individual final and can bring big scores. They are four points behind USA in third at the minute, but Team USA have pommel horse which can be a bit hit and miss.

For me this parallel bars routine from Jingyuan Zou is the best routine in the gymnastics of the whole games. Not a flicker of movement, precise and measured. Absolutely phenomenal work. It is like he is on the high bar.

'Absolutely magic' - Burgesspublished at 18:40 British Summer Time 29 July

Canoe slalom - Men's singles final

More from Adam Burgess, who won silver in men's single canoe slalom:

On worrying moments during his race: "That run had it all. It had a bit of style at the top and I was doing really good, really relaxed in places, really good use of the water but I thought I got a lovely pick up on the wave. Then I caught my edge, big support stroke and my heart was in my mouth, as I’m sure it was for everyone watching on TV but I stayed upright.

"[Kimberley Woods] almost fell off the same wave yesterday and she got back up. She was on my mind, the grit and determination that she showed, I tried to replicate that and finish the run strong and here we are."

On his elation when he reached the bottom pool: "I really couldn’t believe it. There’s been so many times in races where I’ve not taken my opportunity and where a mistake like that put me off the podium, or turn into more mistakes.

"I held it together and to see me go into first with just a few boats to go was absolutely magic."

Adam Burgess gained redemption for his agonising fourth place in Tokyo 2020 with a silver medal in Paris, and was talking to Matthew Pinsent:

Adam Burgess, Olympic medallist - how long have you dreamt about calling yourself that?

"Since I was 10 years old. It was what I was thinking about in the start pool – I wanted to do that kid proud and go out there and give it my all and here we are."

You and I did a different interview three years ago - how much has that been on your mind this week?

"I was trying not to think about it too much. Obviously it was a big part of my story to go again and earn the spot to come to Paris.

"But very much this was its own story – races always unfold differently. I didn’t want that in my mind and be in the present moment. Focus on my job today and just get on the podium."

Clean routine for Whitlock on high barpublished at 18:26 British Summer Time 29 July

    Gymnastics - men's team final

    Sonia Oxley
    BBC Sport in Paris

Great Britain have moved on to high bar. I have said before that it's the apparatus that I watch and forget to breathe. That hasn't changed.

Max Whitlock has come smoothly through his routine to earn 13.000, a bit down on his qualification score.

It's probably GB's weakest piece collectively so it will be a case of just not making any big mistakes to stay in contention.

    Gymnastics - men's team final

    Beth Tweddle

The youngsters coming through have been a standout for me so far in this final. Harry Hepworth with a huge performance on rings, with a 14.8.

We have never been known as a team for being good on rings. Jake Jarman on vault too producing that big score when we needed it there.

    Gymnastics - men's team final

    Sonia Oxley

Well, if there was a gold medal for cheering, it would have to go to USA here. Every routine is being absolutely roared on by the Americans in the crowd.

And the biggest cheers just erupted for Brody Malone, who had a terrible time in qualifying but has just delivered a stunning routine on the horizontal bar.

At the end of the fourth rotation, it's: China, Ukraine, USA, Japan, GB...
