    Trampoline - women's final

This trampoline final is unforgiving. Each athlete is given one attempt to stake their claim for the gold.

Defending champion, China's Zhu Xueying made too many mistakes and will not be taking home the gold this time.

Viyaleta Bardzilouskaya has gone first, posting 56.060 so that's the score to beat. It's lower than her qualifying score.

Defending champion Zhu Xueying of China was below par, travelling around the trampoline quite a bit, and that has cost her as she picks up 55.510. So, she won't be the Olympic champion for much longer.

Before today's action got under way, I had the immense privilege of being able to walk the course here at Chateau de Versailles.

You can really get an appreciation for the sport, particularly when each and every jump was higher than my head.

The design of each of the jumps is spectacular too. There's one based on the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, and even a little Parisian cafe featuring a menu and seats!

Some of the major headlines so far today in Paris:

    • Three years ago, Emily Craig and Imogen Grant missed out on a medal by 0.01 seconds in Tokyo. Today in Paris, they are Olympic champions after a dominant performance in the women's lightweight double sculls.
    • But it was so near but yet so far for Ollie Wynne-Griffiths and Tom George in the men's pairs, as they took a significant early lead only to be caught near the line by Croatian brothers Martin and Valent Sinkovic and had to settle for silver.
    • There was bronze in the diving for British pair Anthony Harding and Jack Laugher in the men's synchro 3m springboard - the fourth successive medal won in the diving pool by Team GB out of four finals so far at Paris 2024.
    • World trampolining champion and two-time Olympic medallist Bryony Page is through to the final - happening now - after a solid qualifying score of 55.620.
    • One of Britain's prime athletics medal hopes, Josh Kerr, cruised into the semi-finals of the 1500m in 3:35.83 - his best time of the season so far. Dina Asher-Smith, Daryll Neita and Imani Lansquiot all qualified from their women's 100m heats, but there was a blow in the women's high jump as Morgan Lake failed to qualify for the final.
    • Adam Peaty did not take part in the mixed 4x100m medley relay heats on Friday morning, after testing positive for Covid-19. Peaty could still come in for the final on Saturday evening after Team GB successfully qualified.
    • Carlos Alcaraz is under way in his men's tennis semi-final against Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada. The Spaniard could set up an all-star final against Novak Djokovic - you can keep track of the scores here.

And some events to look out for today:

    • It's over to Chateau de Versailles at 13:00 for the equestrian as Britain's Ben Maher, Harry Charles and Scott Brash compete in the team jumping final.
    • Britain are on course for a medal in the women's windsurfing, where Emma Wilson currently leads. The final stages of that competition take place from 14.30 BST today.
    • This evening in the pool, Ben Proud is through to the men's 50m freestyle final. That's at 19:30 BST, followed by the women's 200m backstroke final with Katie Shanahan and Honey Osrin. Duncan Scott and Tom Dean then go in the men's 200m individual medley final at 19:43.
    • If Beth Shriever and Kye Whyte make it through their semi-finals in the BMX racing, the men's final is at 20:35 with the women's race to follow at 20:50 BST.

After it was abandoned twice yesterday, conditions were finally right for the men's skiff medal race to go ahead this lunchtime.

James Peters and Fynn Skerritt of Great Britain were seventh after the opening series... and that is where they finished, both in the race and the overall standings.

There was disappointment for Ireland, who held a medal position heading into the medal race but a ninth-place finish saw them drop to fourth in the overall standings.

Spain won the medal race and took the gold medal to boot, with silver going to New Zealand and USA snatching bronze.

She will have to improve on qualifying, though, but she has plenty of experience to draw on.

It's about progressing through the rounds and making sure you're at your fastest, at your peak if you can get into that final and really contend for a medal.
