It's total silence at the Aquatics Centre during the dives until the athletes hit the water, which definitely adds to the whole drama of the occasion.

Kyle Kothari starts his first dive in handstand on the board, doing two back somersaults with one and a half twists, scoring 76.80. He's immediately followed by Noah Williams, who gets exactly the same score for his inward three and a half somersaults.

    Solid start for both.

He can afford to take in the adoration of the crowds, with the Hotel des Invalides providing a spectacular backdrop.

He won a bronze over 10,000m in Rio, but he now has a shiny gold medal to cap off an already glittering career.
