Helen Glover unsure of World Championships pairs partner

Olympic, world and European champion Helen Glover says she does not know who will partner her when she defends the women's World Championships pair title.

She expects to race with both Heather Stanning and Polly Swann in the build-up to August's World Championships.

Glover won European gold on Sunday with Swann while Stanning, with whom she won Olympic gold, was out with fatigue.

"There might be some chopping and changing between Heather and Polly," Glover told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"It's more of a learning process so when it comes to the World Championships in August we've tried out a few things and we're ready."

Swann won the 2013 World title with Cornwall-based Glover after Stanning took the year off to focus on her army career.

But Stanning returned to partner Glover in the winter and the pair won April's British trials.

Glover will race in the pair at the next two World Cup regattas in Aiguebelette in France and Lucerne in Switzerland.

"The most important thing is that we arrive in August ready to defend the World Championships title," said Glover.

"The World Cups are going to be the interesting for us. We can take a step back and we'll be racing the rest of the world and all the non-European countries, so it'll definitely be tougher.

"These races won't matter as much. I think it'll be about the process and learning a few things. The World Cups are definitely a warm-up for the World Championships.

"The position we finish will be less important; most important will be what we learn and trying a few things out."

Glover said whoever takes to the water in the GB pair, they will have to be wary of their main rivals from America and New Zealand.

"USA are an incredibly strong team and we've heard on the grapevine that they're continuing on their mission to try and make the women's pair their top boat, and the same with the New Zealanders," said Glover.

"They're putting their really classy athletes in that boat so we always know we're going to come up with a really strong race against them."
