  1. DISALLOWED TRYpublished at 17:41 BST 5 October

    Wigan 0-0 St Helens

It's a shame for Wigan as Grace Banks does terrifically in on the left side to race clear and eventually weave inside to score.

However, despite referee Tara Jones giving a try on field, it is reviewed by video referee Liam Rush who rules it out for obstruction by Mary Coleman.

It ends with a high kick over the top of Saints back Phoebe Hook who eventually gathers and gets Saints going again.

For me is Zoe Harris was fully fit she'd have been starting this game, I think that's the best foot forward.

I think you lose some of Jodie Cunningham's her dominance of going forward as you move those middle three around

Having Harris there is a positive sign for Saints should they need her they've got the option to.

  5. Postpublished at 17:34 BST 5 October

An early test for Saints wing Dani McGifford who drops a high ball but it goes backwards.

Wigan follow-up with a high shot on Phoebe Hook and Saints have some valuable metres up the field in Wigan's half - 30 out.

Wigan trio Jenna Foubister, Eva Hunter and Isabel Rowe have been nominated for the 2025 Woman of Steel award which will be announced on Tuesday night at the Rugby League Awards.

It will be the first time the prize is awarded to a Wigan player since it's inception in 2018.

The trio have enjoyed excellent campaigns under the stewardship of former Man of Steel Denis Betts, who was named the Women's Super League Coach of the Year last Sunday.

Wigan finished the regular season top of the Super League standings with 12 wins, a draw and a single defeat from 14 games - one point clear of today's opponents Saints.

Despite being well beaten in the Women's Challenge Cup final, St Helens grabbed a 22-22 draw at eternal foes Wigan on 29 June in their first meeting since their Wembley loss.

They secured their Grand Final birth with a tight 12-8 victory against reigning-champions York Valkyrie two weeks ago thanks to tries from Katie Mottershead and Caitlin Casey.

Saints boss Craig Richards said his side have taken a lot from their Wembley woes as they plan to play party-poopers to earn their first grand final victory since 2021 and, at the same time, prevent Wigan from sealing the treble in front of their home supporters at the Brick Community Stadium.

"For us there's a lot of strengths to be taken away from Wembley - the fact we got there [to the final] five times in a row shows our pedigree, how we're always there or thereabouts for silverware," Richards told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"On the back of that, we learned a few lessons which led to a draw and there's not a lot between the sides.

"We can both score tries from anywhere on the field - we've got exciting haves and exciting edges.

"We know one thing Wigan don't do is go away - they don't falter so it's going to be an 80-minute performance needed to get the job done."

In a rematch of their 42-6 victory in the Challenge Cup final at Wembley back in June, Wigan start today's Women's Super League Grand Final on home turf as red-hot favourites to secure a historic treble.

After winning the Cup and League Leaders' Shield, Warriors wrapped up their place in the season's showpiece event with a comprehensive 38-0 semi-final win over Leeds Rhinos a fortnight ago.

Prior to this afternoon's match, newly named Coach of the Year Denis Betts opened up on his side's preparation to BBC Radio Manchester.

"It's a little bit lower key because the emotion is already there," he said.

"No matter what you say to them, that feeling is just under the chest.

"Everybody's talking about it - now it's about taking it easy, making sure we don't get too carried away and burn too much energy."
