While we are 80 minutes away from discovering their opponents, Wigan Warriors can enjoy this game with their feet up (or possibly an ice pack or two).

They did the business at home to Leigh Leopards in the 'Battle of the Borough' thanks to two tries from Bevan French in an 18-6 success.

They will be back at Old Trafford this time next Saturday aiming for a third straight Grand Final success.

With one play remaining of their play-off eliminator away to Leeds Rhinos last Saturday, they were done. They were toast.

But Shane Wright turned defeat into victory with an incredible score to book their place in tonight's semi-final.

It also restored one of rugby league's truisms, 'Never write off St Helens'.

But having finished fifth in the regular season, they are having to do the play-offs the hard way on the road.

Success at Headingley was one thing, but can they cause an even bigger surprise by defeating Hull KR, the side who finished top of the pile?

  3. Biggest prize remains in Robins' sightspublished at 17:18 BST 4 October

The 2025 season will forever be a special one for followers of Hull KR.

A long-awaited Challenge Cup success in June to end a 45-year wait, before the League Leaders' Shield was secured in the final game of the season.

There has even been a Coldplay gig at Sewell Group Craven Park this summer!

Head coach Willie Peters, local hero Mikey Lewis and the rest of the Hull KR squad deserve huge plaudits for what they have achieved so far, but the biggest prize is still up for grabs.

First, they must beat St Helens to set up another crack at Wigan in the Grand Final.

The long, hot days of summer are fading into the memory banks (even more so if you've been drenched by Storm Amy today...)

But the bright lights, fireworks and steep stands of Old Trafford are coming right into view.

It's the business end of the rugby league season and there are no more second chances as Hull KR and St Helens meet in the second play-off semi-final.
