Collenette faced Championship side Jersey in the annual Siam Cup match in May

Cornish Pirates have signed Guernsey youngster George Collenette.

The 18-year-old back-row is the second player from the island to move to the Mennaye after full-back Luke Jones did so last summer.

Collenette spent the past two seasons at Llandovery College where he had a trial for Wales Under-18s.

He also played for Guernsey in the annual Siam Cup match against Jersey in May when they lost 38-7 to the Championship club.

"He's a very mobile, large back row player and I'd put him up against anybody," Guernsey Rugby Academy chairman Charlie McHugh told BBC Sport.

"He's a developing player but he's got tremendous potential and he will relish anything anyone throws at him in the Championship, he's definitely someone to watch in the future."

Guernsey and the Cornish Pirates have forged close relations in the past couple of seasons, with the Pirates set to visit Guernsey next month and play the island side in a pre-season friendly.
