Jordan Reynolds: Guernsey must be critical on themselves to survive

Guernsey head coach Jordan Reynolds says his side must be more critical of themselves if they are to survive in National Three London and South East.

The island side are bottom of the league with six games left this season.

"We've got to be able to close out games and we've got to be hard on ourselves," he told BBC Radio Guernsey.

"We don't want to be pushed back into London One, because it's not the league that we want to be in. It's a pretty easy league compared to this one."

Reynolds' side still has to play fellow strugglers Westcliff, CS Rugby 1863 and Tring, and the islanders have the best points difference of any of the bottom four.

"For us generally it's getting as bit tiring having other sides complement us saying 'we're one of the strongest sides in the league', but we're just failing to close these games out," added Reynolds.

"We're tending to perform very well against the top teams, but when the sides sitting near the bottom come and visit us we're not putting in the same impact, and that's where we're lacking, the same consistency.

"We shouldn't be at the bottom, but there's not much we can do about that.

"Even with the massive injuries that we had during this season, some of the teams we had to put out were still very competitive.

"But being competitive is one thing, picking up points is another.

"This week we have to pick up a win, regardless, if we don't we're in big trouble," added Reynolds as his side prepare to host Westcliff on Saturday.
