Guernsey RFC thrash CS Rugby 61-6 to boost survival hopes

Guernsey registered their biggest win of the season as they thrashed bottom-of-the-table CS Rugby 1863 61-6.

The nine-try victory at Footes Lane moved Guernsey seven points away from the relegation zone and was the fifth in their last six games.

"The boys deserve that as it's been a long, hard season," head coach Jordan Reynolds told BBC Guernsey.

"We've been building well over the past six games and it's important to finish out the season with three wins."

Guernsey have had an injury-hit campaign and were bottom of National Three London for much of it.

But with their best players available again, the island side has surged up the league, winning seven of their last 11 matches, having previously registered just two in their first 12 games.

"There's still a lot we have to work on, we definitely left a lot of points out there, but it has been building, our back line's been firing for the last six weeks," Reynolds said.

"Seven of the nine tries came from our outside backs and it shows the width we're putting on the ball.

"We're trying not to get too far ahead of ourselves, there's still some tough games coming up, but hopefully we can extend that performance into next week.

He added: "It would have been interesting to see where we would be if we could have kept a healthy squad, but we can't think about that too much at the moment,."

Guernsey host next-to-bottom Tring in their next fixture on Saturday.
