    Well that's it from a rain-soaked Rome.

It was hardly a battle fitting of the Colosseum, but one the hosts thoroughly deserved.

Ange Capuozzo gave Italy the lead which they never looked like surrendering, despite a late Welsh rally.

Italy head off into the night celebrating a first home win over Wales in 18 years, while Wales are left to digest a 14th successive Test defeat and an all-time lowest world ranking of 12th.

No doubt Warren Gatland is going to face more tough questions again this week.

Elsewhere, England against France gets under way very shortly - which you can follow here.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Wales head coach Warren Gatland told S4C: "I know how hard we are working.

"I can understand people's frustration and we are frustrated and disappointed as well because we created opportunities but we have made mistakes and the penalty count was disappointing.

"As a coaching team and players they are not hard fixes but we need to make sure we focus in those key moments."

Wales looked like a poorly coached team. We went into the game to kick but other than that there was no deception outside.

When we did have the ball we did not get over the gain line. We looked lost and players looking around for others to do things and nothing was happening.

The scoreline flattered Wales and Italy were completely dominant.

Wales did not get it together at all. We were expecting a reaction but there was not one.

It is hard to see where they are going to go from here.

We have not shown anything and have gone backwards from last year's Six Nations.

  6. 'Nothing is off the table' - Biggarpublished at 16:25 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February

    FT: Italy 22-15 Wales

Former Wales fly-half Dan Biggar on ITV: "If you look at the games they have lost in the last 12 months, today was the poorest performance in that run.

"It is hard to say because there are a lot of good people there but it is just not working. Whatever is going on Monday to Friday is not being transferred to the pitch on a Saturday.

"Wales have Ireland coming to Cardiff in two weeks time, they travel to Scotland and welcome England.

"This team looks one that is shot of belief and confidence. We keep getting asked the same questions but what are the answers. I am not quite sure. The curve has been downward."

On Warren Gatland's future, Biggar added: "That is for people on a higher pay grade than me to decide. I don't think anything is off the table at the moment, it can't be. It can't carry on.

"It is such a shame because there are so many good people there who have had success previously but clearly what is happening there in the week is not working."

It's very disappointing. Unfortunately, if you don't play well, you lose at this level.

Italy were the favourites, so we had to put pressure on them, but that just didn't happen.

Italy weren't really challenged in that game.

The problems are everywhere for Wales.

Everyone is going to have a different opinion.

What disappoints me is that in 2023, when there was a strike, it felt like a low point for Welsh rugby, but now it feels worse.

  10. 'Discipline let us down' - Morganpublished at 16:19 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February

    FT: Italy 22-15 Wales

Wales captain Jac Morgan told S4C: "I'm gutted with the result. We've worked hard all week and things just didn't go our way.

"Discipline let us down. We gave them opportunities to kick points and that built the score board to be too high at the end."

  12. 'Schoolboy' performance from Walespublished at 16:16 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February

    FT: Italy 22-15 Wales

Former Wales centre Jamie Roberts told ITV: "I thought that was one of Wales' poorest performances over the last 18-20 months.

"I think everyone in Wales was expecting a kick back from the disappointing night in Paris last weekend.

"Our kicking game at times tonight was schoolboy.

"You just can't win Test matches, especially in the rain, against a quality Italian outfit who did it far better."

If we carry on down this road, who knows where it could lead to.

It hurts to watch as a Welshman. There's no words left and I'm really worried about the situation.

Wales prop Gareth Thomas speaking to S4C: "Quite emotional at full-time. It's a disappointing result and just not good enough.

"It's hard to put a finger on it. The effort is there, but discipline cost us."

    It was hard to watch.

You can't question the effort of the players, but Wales were not good tactically and were ill-disciplined.
