  1. Goodbye!published at 20:12 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: Scotland 57-17 Fiji

That brings us to a close, as Scotland start their Autumn Nations Series with a fine win.

They were adequately tested by Fiji, and ended up passing that test comfortably.

Adam Hastings, Tom Jordan, Sione Tuipulotu, Huw Jones, and Darcy Graham all starred. The forwards weren't bad either, especially D'Arcy Rae off the bench on just his second cap.

We'll see you next Sunday for the game against South Africa (16:10 GMT). It's sure to be a cracker. Goodbye!

  2. Townsend sets British recordpublished at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: Scotland 57-17 Fiji

As well as Scotland setting a record victory over Fiji, there was an individual record smashed.

Gregor Townsend oversaw his 83rd Test as Scotland head coach, a record for a British head coach in charge of a single men’s Test side.

In doing so, he surpassed Sir Clive Woodward who oversaw 82 England Tests.

    History made.

  3. 'A good start' for Scotland's autumn - Townsendpublished at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: Scotland 57-17 Fiji

Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend tells Sportsound: "We were tested in that second quarter, and sometimes we put ourselves under pressure. We responded in the second half. The bench did well when they came on, some of them playing at Murrayfield for the first team, so that was pleasing.

"We showed our intent to get the ball in the last 20 minutes and our fitness came through. There's a few things to work on, but it's a good start.

[On Graham's four tries] "Brilliant, wasn't it? He's so good here, so good with that Scotland jersey. He's so hard to read because he doesn't offer the same picture every time. His running lines were excellent today and he's a finished. We're delighted he's been able to play and play so well.

"We will be [ready] come next Sunday. We've got to assemble the game next week with players added to our squad. Tough for Kyle Rowe, whose been in great form. He looks to have picked up a hamstring injury. That's a blow.

"Tom Jordan at fullback played very well and that was his first cap for Scotland. We know we'll have to work hard and build that performance. We have to go in with the mindset and belief that we can win."

  4. 'A new beginning' for captain Tuipulotupublished at 19:59 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: Scotland 57-17 Fiji

Scotland captain Sione Tuipulotu tells Sportsound: "I'm pretty pleased with that. The scoreline doesn't reflect how tight the game was, especially in that first 20 minutes.

"We really had to work in those first 20 minutes and then they came back into it. The game opened up towards the end but we had to work for it.

"We talked about exiting cleanly after we scored points. We can't afford to do that next week.

"We've got to get our heads around our own game. The elephant in the room is that the world champions are in town next week and we get a free swing at them. It's a unique opportunity.

"It feels like the start of something new for me. To start as captain feels like a new start."

There's been signs recently that Graham is beginning to get going but I wasn't expecting that kind of performance.

He was really hungry for work, even when he wasn't scoring tries. He capitalised on some brilliant work from his teammates.

Scotland's attacking function is brilliant. 57 points and 40 point win is really good.

They had to weather a few dodgy moments. Ewan Ashman was lucky to stay on the pitch. Scotland in full flow, on the front foot, are absolutely devastating.

  6. Graham chasing 50 cap dreampublished at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: Scotland 57-17 Fiji

Scotland's player of the match Darcy Graham tells Sportsound: "It wasn't bad, was it? I've loved pulling that jersey back on.

"When you're out that long, you start wondering when it's going to happen again, if it's going to happen again. You have doubts in your head, but I'm just chuffed to be back.

"The next thing for me is to chase that 50th cap - that's my boyhood dream.

"I joined him for five minutes! It's good fun, good competition between me and Duhi [van der Merwe]. We'll take it all the way into the thirties I reckon.

[On South Africa] "We know what's coming, it would be nice to get one over them."

Fijian boys are an abrasive bunch, they cause chaos in the collisions so you have to endure the waves they throw at you.

They're good for 15-20 points. We saw at the World Cup they're good quality opposition, they made it to a quarter final.

We dominated the set piece, didn't allow them a platform. We didn't allow them much possession and when we had the ball, they created space and generated things for people.

The space afforded to Darcy Graham and Duhan van der Merwe was a joy to watch at times.

It's a really good performance. There was loads of good stuff and a little bad stuff - which will focus the minds.

If they went through the 80 minutes without that pressure from Fiji, they might go into that South Africa a bit more confident than they should be.

There was a lot of great rugby in attack. Their defence was pretty decent. Executed well, overall they'll be reasonably happy.

Tom Jordan was brilliant when he came on. Outstanding, great game.

  9. Full-time Scotland 57-17 Fijipublished at 19:41 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

Two bizarre halves of rugby, but Scotland come out on top comfortably in the end with a big win over Fiji.

The hosts started well and finished well, while mixing some of their finest attacking prowess with some defensive ill-discipline.

Four tries for Darcy Graham is the standout, while Duhan van der Merwe also added to his incredible try tally for his country.

    Let's get the reaction...

    Yes it was.

Jones' foot is clearly planted in touch and after a quick look from the TMO, it's chalked off. Never mind.

    What do I know?!

They're over again! They crash through the 60-point mark through Van der Merwe, who scores his 30th Scotland try!

Or does he? Was Huw Jones' foot in touch?

  12. Postpublished at 81 mins

    Scotland 57-17 Fiji

The clock is red but Scotland seemingly want to get over the 60-point mark.

It's messy stuff as they try and get out of their own 22m.

Might be better to just boot it out lads...

And they do have another, and so does Jones!

Scotland draw defenders into the driving maul, before Jamie Dobie digs it out.

Adam Hastings takes one look and plants a cross kick to the feet of Huw Jones. He picks it up on the try line and dots it down.

    Scotland finish with a flourish.

Scotland aren't done. They want to go for the corner from this penalty, and Adam Hastings put them there.

The Fijians are tiring. Can Scotland find another try to add some more gloss to the scoreline?

  15. Player of the Match - Darcy Grahampublished at 76 mins

    Scotland 50-17 Fiji

    No real surprise.

After four tries, that briefly had him level as Scotland men's all-time top try-scorer, Graham is named player of the match.

There's no doubt about it - he is back.

Nope. Jones propels himself further forward from his knees - textbook double movement and a fair decision.

Of course, Jones has already scored today. He was just being greedy.

  17. Is it another Scotland try..?published at 75 mins

    Scotland 50-17 Fiji

The Scots are trying to finish with a flourish and Huw Jones wants a try of his own.

He scampers by one defender, then another, but he's brought down short. He stretches for the line and dots down but the referee says no try - double movement.

However, we're going to the TMO...

Van der Merwe is once again Scotland's all-time top try-scorer - but that try is allllll about Adam Hastings.

The Scotland back-move holds up slightly, but Hastings offloads behind his back to put Huw Jones through a gap.

Jones sends the ball out to Van der Merwe, who scurries over.

It's Champagne Rugby™. That offload will be replayed time and time again.

A man leaving this game with points is Tom Jordan.

Thrust into the game earlier than we expected in his first cap. He came on at fullback, he brings something different.

He comes into the line, gets his hands free, always on the defensive edge.

Scotland threaten to breakaway up the right hand side through Huw Jones but as he gets over the halfway line, he's tackled and losses possession.

It was Jack Dempsey who Gregor Brown replaced, by the way.
