Harry Potter belts the ball up the field and it is so close to being a brilliant 50-22. Hugo Keenan carefully watches the ball go dead. He shows great awareness to not touch it.

Tadhg Beine won the first penalty one minute into the game. There was a lot of talk about Ollie Chessum playing six but people forget how good Beirne is on the ball and how much of an annoyance he is at the breakdown. He already proved his selection with that first penalty.

If you wanted one little example of why Tom Curry has been picked, it was right there on that Len Ikitau carry in a threatening position for Australia.
Curry stopped the Wallaby centre in his tracks, held him up, and then went back in to spoil the Australia ball further, turning a strong carry and potential quick ball into a slow, unthreatening ruck.

It’s been such a good start. It was really dynamic attack from the Lions. They were going left, they were going right, James Lowe got an offload away and it was just too fast and too much for Australia to handle.
Already they are 10-0 down after 10 minutes, they will already be thinking we need to score some points soon.

Brutal, efficient and creative rugby from the tourists. On his first Test start as a Lion, Finn Russell has produced two beautiful plays, releasing the marauding Dan Sheehan before throwing a peach to Sione Tuipulotu which went over three Wallabies.
This could get ugly if Australia don't respond quickly; they have hardly entered the Lions half in the first 10 minutes.
The Lions continue to go to the air, this time Tom Lynagh is unable to regather. A clear tactic but James Lowe gets the next kick wrong as the ball dribbles dead.
That is the problem when you have a mega left boot.

Finn Russell has started this game superbly - good kicking from the hand, perfect from the tee, magnificent offload and the pass to pick out Sione Tuipulotu.

David, Darlington: If the Lions can stay on the right side of O’Keefe, I think they will win by three scores. If the Kiwi starts pinging the Lions at every breakdown and scrum, it’ll be very close.
Stuart Mitchell: Come on the Lions!! Nothing like some good Aussie bashing. Put them back in their place.
