Scarlets have been that much more clinical.

There were a couple of good opportunities for Dragons straight after Scarlets' try, they couldn't quite take advantage of the Eddie James yellow card and the missed lineout and cross-field kick from Steff Hughes.

It was a beautiful try for Dan Davis, a superb outside break and he ran a great inside line as all good sevens do.

You just get that feeling that Scarlets have got that bit more confidence and clinical edge and Dragons have let them off the hook during that yellow card period.

Fascinating to hear from former Scarlets and Wales captain Ken Owens this week.

He has played such an important role in Welsh rugby for more than a decade. On and off the field.

If anybody needed reminding of his influence, a new programme profiling the Wales hooker has shown the vital role he played in ensuring a threatened players strike was averted against England in February 2023 and how close the Six Nations match was to being called off.

A revealing S4C documentary to be aired on Sunday, 2 June follows Owens in the final year of his career before he announced his retirement in April 2024.

There are contributions from team-mates Jonathan Davies and Alun Wyn Jones, coaches Warren Gatland, Robin McBryde and Phil Davies and emotional interviews with his wife Carys and parents Delme and Frankie.

It covers the period when Owens captained Wales for the first time in the Six Nations which marked a controversial time.

Former Welsh Rugby Union chief executive Nigel Walker admitted Owens played a pivotal role in helping the England game to go ahead.

Owens also had to cope with the debilitating back injury that forced him to miss a fourth World Cup and eventually announce his retirement in April 2024.

Gareth Davies kicks the ball out and that's it for the first half of rugby on Judgement Day.

That's an absolute sickener for Dragons who had been banging on the door for a while.

And to rib salt into the wound, now Eddie James returns and Scarlets are back up to full strength.

    That was a good try.

Gareth Davies made the break, he pinned his ears back and he went, it think it was a last gasp tackle from Will Reed that stopped him from going any further.

The handling was superb then, they kept ball alive, they ran well off each other's shoulders and a well deserved try under the posts.

That's with 14 men after absorbing all that Dragons pressure.

Dan Davis try, Ioan Lloyd cobn

No it wasn't and suddenly Scarlets are well ahead.

It was a classic counter-attack and it began with Lloyd who has only been on the pitch for a minute or two.

Lloyd releases Lewis who has been really impressive over the last couple of games.

Scarlets break up field and Dan Davis crosses... but was that last pass from Tomi Lewis forward?

  8. Replacementpublished at 37 mins

Sam Costelow's day is over. He looked very groggy getting up off the ground during that defensive stand.

Ioan Lloyd is on. Not a bad replacement.

Good defence there by the Scarets.

Ioan Nicholas covered a lot of ground, if he was a yard narrower, Rio Dyer would have been over.

Dragons launch an attack off the back of a scrum and three phases later Ben Carter comes up inches short.

They do well the keep the move alive but Steff Hughes just over-cooks his cross-field kick to Dyer and the chance is gone.

Ok so a big chance now for Dragons against 14 men.

Joe Westwood bumps off Ioan Nicholas in midfield but Scarlets' scramble defence holds out.

They need to stop playing it in slow motion, you'd be sent to prison!

He's very low and he was sinking into that.

There wasn't much in it... it looks a lot worse than it was.

  14. Sin-bin: Eddie James (Scarlets)published at 31 mins

    Scarlets 10-3 Dragons

He's off for 10 minutes and personally, I think that's fair. James could not have hinged more at the hips.

  15. Ouch!published at 31 mins

    Scarlets 10-3 Dragons

Ooh that was a massive hit by Eddie James on Aneurin Owen.

Owen is sprawled out on the floor and the referee is going to look at this.

The mitigation for James is that he was bent over in the tackle position and Owen was sliding into the challenge so was low.

But the more they show the replay the more brutal the hit looks. It's almost a whiplash injury.

It was a well constructed driving lineout.

The Dragons chanced their arm putting Matthew Screech up in the middle [of the lineout] which put three players out of it.

It's been a nervy start from both sides but the game has been played mostly in the Dragons half.

There is a strange atmosphere here with the sound of chatter permeated with some cheers when something exciting happens.

Fair to say it's a slow burner.
