Who would've thought Wales would be leading at half-time!

There's been loads of changes in Welsh rugby, but today we've seen a change in attitude and a change in mentality.

There's a long way to go and Ireland still looks strong, but Wales are playing with confidence and are giving the game to Ireland.

I was a little bit nervous going into the game because Matt Sherratt's Cardiff like to play rugby in their own half, but he's recognised in international rugby and against Ireland you can't.

Anscombe has taken that on board in kicking and putting Wales in the right places. They've done pretty well from a territorial perspective.

    Nothing is real anymore!

It's just what we expected, Wales to be ahead at half-time.

It just goes to show, you've got to play the game.

Ireland were huge favourites to win this game and they are down, they just lost a little bit of control in that middle of that half and Wales have taken advantage.

  7. Red card: Garry Ringrose (Ireland)published at 15:12 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    HT: Wales 13-10 Ireland

The Ireland centre's yellow card has been upgraded to a 20-minute red card so his day is over.

Ireland will be able to bring on a replacement after the 20 minutes, most likely Bundee Aki. Not a bad replacement!

But Wales have another 17 minutes to make the most of the extra man.

It's absolutely incredible. The Sherratt bounce! When that try went over, the roar, it's like Welsh rugby was fixed again.

The statistics are fascinating. Ireland have only had 38% possession and they've given away eight penalties.

Well, well, well, an amazing turnaround.

    A great drive Jac Morgan.

Ireland were defending fantastically but Wales stayed composed, looked after the ball, even when they were going backwards. That was the key.

Wales could have kicked the points but go to the corner for another crack with the driving lineout.

Could they be about to take a shock lead?

Ireland don't like being under pressure do they?

This isn't the easy game they thought it would be and now the crowd are behind Wales for the last few minutes of the half.

Wales go for the lineout drive and get to with a couple of metres before Tomos Williams peels off.

The scrum-half is stopped short and now Wales look wide.

    There's a penalty coming.

    Wales win another scrum penalty!

That's four in this half alone and you wonder when a card may come.

This time it's Andrew Porter and then there's a little dust-up between the front-rows.

    Wales sense a vulnerability.

It all comes down to mitigation.

Could Garry Ringrose have done anything different? Was Ben Thomas going down last minute?

    It doesn't look like it.

This could well be a red card.

Once Wales go through a few phases the balance goes in Ireland's favour.

In the first one or two phases Wales look good, but we've got nobody with the power to break the lines and build momentum.

  18. Missed penaltypublished at 37 mins

    Wales 6-10 Ireland

Wales are penalised from the re-start and that is the sort of error that will infuriate a coach so soon after scoring.

But Prendergast hits the post and Wales get away with it.
