Maro Itoje was clear his side are not at their peak just yet.

"We know we're not the finished article," Itoje said.

Asked how much the Lions are holding back tactically, he said: "Quite a bit, probably just as much as Australia are."

Andy Farrell made clear his thoughts on the breakdown.

"Historically Australia have always gone hard at the breakdown," Farrell said.

"If anyone analyses the way we've been playing so far then that's what you would do.

"We knew we'd get pressurised there."

    FT: Brumbies 24-36 Lions

Finn Russell is one of the first names on the Test starting XV.

His goal-kicking was questioned before the tour and he delivered again from the tee, kicking five out of his six kicks.

Practice with assistant coach Johnny Sexton is paying off.

  6. Kinghorn 'in good spirits'published at 13:54 British Summer Time

    Lauren Jenkins
    BBC Sport at GIO Stadium

Andy Farrell confirmed Blair Kinghorn is in "good spirits" and will have his knee assessed.

"He's in good spirits," Farrell said. "He had a bang on the knee, he carried on for a quite a bit of time before coming off."

  7. Roaring Lions - Garry Ringrosepublished at 13:52 British Summer Time

    FT: Brumbies 24-36 Lions

Six defenders beaten and a try, Garry Ringrose responded to Huw Jones' recent performances.

An impressive 10 tackles also shows his strong defence remains in his game.

    Some serious depth at 13.

  8. 'Conan and Sheehan are definitely in'published at 13:49 British Summer Time

    FT: Brumbies 24-36 Lions

    Paul Grayson
    1997 British and Irish Lion

I think Ollie Chessum was excellent at six. Conan and Sheehan are definitely in.

Tommy Freeman looks good on the right wing. Gibson-Park and Russell I don't think are under threat at 9 and 10. The rest is up for debate.

  9. 'The Brumbies have done them a bit of a favour'published at 13:46 British Summer Time

    FT: Brumbies 24-36 Lions

    Chris Ashton
Former England wing on BBC Radio 5Live

They have no option other than to get it right in 10 days time. You would think their set-piece is the easiest part to get right, it's just about practice because it's the main part of what they are doing during the week.

They still shouldn't be dropping so many balls.

The Brumbies have also done them a bit of a favour in blasting them at the breakdown.

  10. Roaring Lions - Marcus Smithpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time

    FT: Brumbies 24-36 Lions

    Mr Utility.

Marcus Smith may want to play fly-half more but he could be playing his way onto the Test bench because of his ability to be a solid full-back.

A try and a try assist for Garry Ringrose, his versatility could help if Andy Farrell wants to be creative with his bench.

    That could mean going 6-2.

Really not sure how JGP was named player of the match. Itoje and Chessum were much better.

  12. Roaring Lions - Ollie Chessumpublished at 13:37 British Summer Time

    FT: Brumbies 24-36 Lions

Ollie Chessum put his hand up for the Test number six jersey after scoring a try and having one ruled out.

But it was his eight tackles, nine carries and general line-out work that will most impress Andy Farrell.

Why number eight Jack Conan carried so well comes down to some of that unsung work-rate from Chessum.

  13. 'Our urgency needs to be better' - Sheehanpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time

    FT: Brumbies 24-36 Lions

    British and Irish Lions

British and Irish Lions hooker Dan Sheehan, speaking to Sky Sports: "A really tough battle, you can feel it in the body now, it was a real physical game. I try and do everything I can for the team.

"It's come together nicely and hopefully we can improve things before the first Test. I think our urgency and the first two people need to do a better job [at the breakdown]. I am absolutely loving the tour."

Farrell has a tricky game to negotiate against the Invitational Australia/New Zealand side on Saturday, as there is no scouting or form information to go on, and they'll be something of an unknown quantity. Today's game was basically the final audition for the first Test, so those that play this Saturday will likely not be picked a week later. I think Chessum and Freeman have both played their way into the side to face Australia, having not been necessarily seen as Test players when they were selected. Lions Test teams always have surprise picks who play their way into contention through sheer hard work.

    FT: Brumbies 24-36 Lions

    Paul Grayson
1997 British and Irish Lion on BBC Radio 5 Live

The Lions played straighter. When they did that, they looked really good.

The good stuff is really good but there is too much forced inaccurate play.

  16. 'There is a funny feeling in the camp' - Gibson-Parkpublished at 13:23 British Summer Time

    FT: Brumbies 24-36 Lions

    British and Irish Lions

British and Irish Lions man of the match Jamison Gibson-Park, speaking to Sky Sports: "I suppose we are happy with the result in the end, a patchy performance but we are happy. Hats off to the Brumbies, they came with a plan and they executed it well.

"There is a little bit of a funny feeling in the camp but there are things we need to review. We don't get a lot of time on the training pitch and a lot of things are done in the meeting room."

  17. Hopefully Kinghorn's injury 'not too serious' - Farrellpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time

    FT: Brumbies 24-36 Lions

    British and Irish Lions

British and Irish Lions head coach Andy Farrell, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was the same as the other games. There was some really good stuff, especially in the first half there was some nice flowing attacking play played at a nice tempo.

"We kept them in the game. We kept them in with a sniff, especially by being held up three times over the tryline.

On Blair Kinghorn's injury: "Hopefully it is not too serious. He said someone landed on his knee, he was walking around."

  18. 'A better and a more balanced game'published at 13:17 British Summer Time

    FT: Brumbies 24-36 Lions

    Chris Ashton
Former England wing on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's been a better and a more balanced game throughout.

The Lions kicked more in the second-half, they pulled away like they have against most of these club sides, they are still a little bit sticky in points, they didn’t manage to score two tries that they probably should have.

There were some line-outs and some easy simple passes just not up to the expectations that I anticipated they would be.

  19. Conan clocks up big numberspublished at 13:12 British Summer Time

    FT: Brumbies 24-36 Lions

    Jack ConanImage source, Rex Features

Number eight Jack Conan got through a mountain of work, carrying 17 times and making 76 metres - both team-high stats.

On the other side of the ball, he was the Lions' top tackler, making 13.

Playing outside Finn Russell, Tuipolotu and Jones make half a dozen line breaks in that game. Aki and Ringrose do not have the understanding of Finn's game, or the creativity to do it themselves.
