Steve Borthwick has to learn that unless necessary, not to make changes! Smith was having his best game for England. No need to bring him off! In the last three games vs the All Blacks, the bench has negatively changed the momentum for us. Sadly, there is no sign of learning from our mistakes. That being said, we didn't take our chances and congratulations to New Zealand- they did.

Surely it's time to reduce the value of penalties or increase the value of tries. Fed up of teams relying on penalties to get anywhere near, New Zealand three tries to one - should be out of sight not scraping a win.

That defeat means Steve Borthwick's side have lost five games in 2024, winning four times.
Only twice - against Argentina in their Rugby World Cup opener and against Ireland in this year's Six Nations - have Borthwick's England beaten a team ranked higher in the world.

The games come thick and fast this autumn. England face Joe Schmidt's Australia next Saturday, world champions South Africa a week later, with their final game against Japan on 24 November.
Ford the wrong call?published at 17:42 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

Plenty of chat around the decision to bring on George Ford. It is fair enough to say that Marcus Smith was having his best game for England, nailing everything.
It was a decision that proved costly. However, it is now Smith's 10 shirt to lose more than ever?

England were a tad unfortunate, and yes, played quite well, but NZ were the more dangerous looking overall. And the fine margins...it sounds strange but I kind of saw that Ford penalty miss coming despite his experience.

Today was a must-win game. There's only so many times you can come close and not finish things off. They've become the nearly men of rugby and I don't know how it can get better. The coach turnover yet again is a sign things aren't right.
'Rugby is a game of fine margins'published at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

Speaking to TNT Sports, New Zealand number eight Ardie Savea said: "I didn't think we had that in the end. We got lucky with the penalty kick, but rugby is a game of fine margins and we will take it.
"That game could've gone either way but for us to stay in it and defend the goal-line like that, I'm very proud of the boys. England's pack were bringing line speed and they were putting big shots on us. It went back and forth but glad to get the win."
'The scrum put England under pressure'published at 17:18 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

George Ford will be more upset by the missed penalty, not the drop-goal necessarily. The scrum put England under pressure and then every hit from New Zealand stopped them in their tracks.
Similar to the summer, they were so close but they haven't got the job done.
