Holly Aitchison looked effortless, she kicked well, and managed the game well.

She also goal-kicked well and that was the thing that had tipped the balance in favour of Zoe Harrison.

The thing that will tip it is the tactical element about how England will want to play against France.

Scotland captain Helen Nelson on BBC Two: "We were frustrated at half-time. We showed glimpses in the first half but England are so clinical and score quickly. It was a much better second half from us.

"We are getting depth, we had three new caps today as you need with a World Cup coming, but England are world class and have so much depth.

"We put in a really strong performance in the second half and move on to a big game against Ireland next weekend."

    FT: England 59-7 Scotland

England coach John Mitchell on BBC Two: "We were a little bit untidy. Our maul could have been better and we let them off the hook at times.

"There are plenty of headaches for me, it's a great side to select. We are one of the best short passing teams in the world, it's good to see us serving team-mates in a better position.

"I have to sit down at home and make a few cups of tea and go through the spreadsheet to pick the side. We have two or three areas of selection I really have to think about.

"Tactically we have to consider playing France. We are in a good place, the medical team have done a great job and we have our best players available.

"The girls are responding, it is going to be a year when we will have to continue to adapt."

  7. 'We can be proud of the second half'published at 18:50 British Summer Time 19 April

    FT: England 54-7 Scotland

Scotland head coach Bryan Easson on BBC Two: "We didn't do anything we said we should in the first half - we gave away far too many easy scores - but we showed pride and fight in the second half and can be proud of that.

"We have to keep building our strength in depth and the pathway and give players opportunities.

"Bridging the gap is tough because England have 40, 50, 60 players who can play at this level but we will keep working hard to close the gap."

"It's not about the scoreboard it's about our individual targets."

England try scorer Marlie Packer: "It was awesome, you can't take for granted playing for England. The calibre of players we have got coming through, players who are training and not even on the bench who are so good. It shows the depth we have got.

"You have to enjoy the moment and not overdo things. You never know when your last game is, to get a try today was awesome.

"Every player in this squad is a natural leader. I speak when I need to but otherwise it's ok, I am enjoying it."

This game has had everything from England - pace, power, team tries but the one thing it needed was individual brilliance. Abby Dow had 50 metres to go, but three hands-off, and she is so strong to ride tackles.

She is world class, there is not a better finisher in the women's game.
