Later this morning, at 11:00 BST, the British and Irish Lions will play their final tour match before their Test series against Australia begins next Saturday.

The team that Lions head coach Andy Farrell picked for Wednesday's win over the Brumbies looked pretty close to what his starting Test side will be.

But if there's one area where places are definitely still up for grabs, it's in the back row.

Good news for Jac Morgan, Wales' only remaining player in this Lions squad after Tomos Williams had to return home with a hamstring injury.

Wales captain Morgan starts at openside flanker today against an Australia/New Zealand invitational XV, a revival of a combined side that last played when the Lions toured in 1989.

Morgan was man of the match against the Queensland Reds earlier this month, and is still very much in contention for a Test place.

Japan's tackling and defensive shape hasn't been up to the standard we'd expect from them.

Wales are kicking less and are holding on to the ball. On the whole they're causing problems for Japan.

It's all well and good doing it for the first half though. Can we keep like this in the final quarter of the game?

A few stats from the opening half in Kobe which make for positive reading for Wales.

    Carries - Japan 34 - 53 Wales

    Metres made - Japan 157 - 281 Wales

    Possession - Japan 42% - 58% Wales

Wales started very similarly to how they did last week.

They need to make sure they don't take their foot off the gas.

Nobody's protecting the try-line for the Japanese try, the shape and discipline let Wales down there.

They've let Japan back in the game before half-time.

It was a very positive first half from Wales.

They were in control and it's a shame they have allowed Japan in at the end because it was a very good first half.

It's now about controlling territory and possession in the second half, just hang on to it.

  9. Half-time - Japan 10-21 Walespublished at 07:39 British Summer Time

That try is the final act of an excellent first half for Wales, even if that late score has trimmed their lead.

    An immediate response from Japan.

They win the scrum penalty which allows them to kick and he wasn't held, he is allowed to get back up and score the try.

That's not how Wales wanted to end what had been an excellent first half.

Japan's lineout is solid, they follow that up with a series of accurate carries and Shuhei Takeuchi - one of Japan's front-row replacements - forces his way over.

Seungsin Lee converts and Wales' lead is now one point fewer than the half-time advantage they had last week.

Wales have definitely been on top in the last couple of scrums.

For the whole front row to be changed after 35 minutes - you don't see that too often.

Big call from Japan coach Eddie Jones, who replaces his entire front row before half-time.

Just one minute left of this first half.

Japan are back up to 15 players and have a penalty in the Welsh half, earned at scrum time, which they kick to touch in the Wales 22.

  15. 'Really good from Adams'published at 07:34 British Summer Time

    Japan 3-21 Wales

That's a really well-worked try. It's from a lineout and Wales come back on the short side.

Good hands from Dan Edwards, then Josh Adams, the way he cut back from the touchline is good and Kieran Hardy runs that inside line.

    Kieran Hardy

What a try that is from Wales!

It's a sweeping, training-ground move with some sweet handling among the backs, moving the ball from right to left before Josh Adams scythes through the Japanese defence.

The Wales wing slaloms into space, races clear and passes to Kieran Hardy, who speeds over for an excellent second score - even if he seemed to wind himself as he dived over.

Dan Edwards converts. Wales are in charge.

Japan made an awful lot of errors last week and it's the same today.

The timing seems off with Japan, but fair play to the line speed of Wales.

They are putting pressure on Japan.

Japan knock the ball on and Wales have a scrum just outside their own 22.

You can see fans fanning themselves in the background.

Sitting down looks like tiring work in these conditions, never mind playing Test rugby.
