Summary

  1. 'Barrett shows his class'published at 19:00 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December

    Bristol 7-21 Leinster

    Gareth Chilcott
Ex-England and Bath prop on BBC Radio Bristol

That's why Barrett is on the big money! They look more dangerous, they have more intent and that was lovely the way he made it look so easy.

    That was pure class.

Bristol are in trouble. They need to find a bit of energy - someone needs to get them going - but first of all they need to win some ball.

  2. try

Try - Bristol 7-21 Leinsterpublished at 18:58 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December

    Jordie Barrett (con: Prendergast)

    Who else?

It takes Jordie Barrett just 16 minutes to open his Leinster account, setting up Larmour with a short offload, then getting it back to slip through Bristol's defences under the sticks.

    He's some impact substitute.

  3. converted try

Converted try - Bristol 7-14 Leinsterpublished at 52 mins

    Sam Prendergast (con: Prendergast)

    Class!

Finally, a solid scrum and Leinster go right. Sam Prendergast slices away to his left, throws a lovely dummy and glides in under the posts for a superb try that he knocks over for the full seven points.

  4. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Bristol 7-7 Leinster

So while Lahiff and Porter go to The Naughty Step, the scrappiness continues - Harry Randall's short pass looks forward, then Bristol spill it while in the Leinster half.

  5. Sin-binpublished at 18:48 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December

    Bristol 7-7 Leinster

    It didn't take long.

Max Lahiff and Andrew Porter are off for 10 minutes, the game has gone very flat and there will be changes galore to see us back to two functioning front rows.

  6. Postpublished at 46 mins

    Bristol 7-7 Leinster

The referee is very frustrated by the collapsing scrums - he's threatening the sin bin for the next miscreant.

  8. 'Barrett has made a difference'published at 18:43 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December

    Bristol 7-7 Leinster

    Gareth Chilcott
Ex-England and Bath prop on BBC Radio Bristol

This is more like Leinster. Their handling is crisp - Jordie Barrett in the midfield seems to have made a difference in keeping the ball alive.

  9. Postpublished at 44 mins

    Bristol 7-7 Leinster

We've been back to 15 v 15 since the resumption, but it is a bit scrappy again.

Andrew Porter, RG Snyman and Caelan Doris all come on as Leinster make a few changes.

  10. Postpublished at 41 mins

    Bristol 7-7 Leinster

Joe McCarthy appears to flick out a foot to trip Harry Randall, but the ref says it is not worth a card. He's lucky in my humble opinion.

  11. Kick-offpublished at 18:36 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December

    Bristol 7-7 Leinster

Jordie Barrett is on to make his Leinster debut - Ciaran Frawley is off. It'll be fascinating to see how he copes in these conditions.

  12. Postpublished at 18:32 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December

"All I want for Xmas is you" gets the inevitable airing on the PA.

I don't think a wet & windy night in the west country is what Mariah had in mind back in 1994, but I could be wrong.

    HT: Bristol 7-7 Leinster

Agree with Cooch, it really has been gripping - great games don't just have to be try-fests.

  14. 'Bristol didn't quite capitalise playing against 13'published at 18:26 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December

    Bristol 7-7 Leinster

    Gareth Chilcott
Ex-England and Bath prop on BBC Radio Bristol

Fantastic game, even if the wind has played havoc. Both defences have done well to the detriment of any attacking play - MacGinty has been sadly missed - but Bristol have had their chances and didn't quite capitalise playing against 13 men.

  15. Half-timepublished at 18:22 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December

    Bristol 7-7 Leinster

Bristol fail to take advantage of an overlap on the right flank late on, and Leinster do indeed get out of that tricky phase well to go into the dressing room level.

  16. Postpublished at 37 mins

    Bristol 7-7 Leinster

Leinster will be utterly delighted if they can get to the break level, or even ahead, given they are down to 13. They have been camped out in the Bristol half since they equalised.

  17. 'Disaster for Bristol'published at 18:14 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December

    Bristol 7-7 Leinster

    Gareth Chilcott
Ex-England and Bath prop on BBC Radio Bristol

That is a disaster for Bristol. They should be pushing on but 13-man Leinster hit back with a body blow.

  18. converted try

Converted try - Bristol 7-7 Leinsterpublished at 18:12 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December

    Jordan Larmour (con: Prendergast)

    What a response!

Leinster hit right back when Rich Lane, diving in, cannot hold a chip ahead. The ball pops up nicely for Jordan Larmour, who slides in under the posts.

  19. converted try

Converted try - Bristol 7-0 Leinsterpublished at 30 mins

    Max Lahiff (con: van Rensburg)

The numerical advantage counts, as Mata piles forward at a lineout before Lahiff picks up and barges over.

There's a punch-up after the try, but it is broken up as Leinster regroup in a huddle for a conflab on how to cope being two men down.

It's 15 v 13 as Deegan goes off for 10 minutes as well!
