    Canada 5-0 Australia

A reminder, Australia have never beaten Canada in seven outings. They completely switched off there and were punished.

It was the complete opposite to their super switched-on start against England last time out.

What a start! Canada burst into the lead as the Maple Leafs switch the ball to the left wing about 30 metres out where Asia Hogan-Rochester has acres of room in front of her and once she gets running, nobody can catch her.

It's an easy cross to score.

    Canada 0-0 Australia

Calm stuff from Canada early on, walking the ball up the field before forcing an Australia error to win a line-out.

    Ashton Gate

There were still plenty of empty seats 15 minutes before kick-off at Ashton Gate, but considering the match is being staged in a 27,000-seater venue without any home nations teams, I think you can allow it not being full to the brim.

A reminder that it was only a few years ago that England's record crowd was short of 5,000.

This will be comfortably more than that.

FT: New Zealand 46-17 South Africa

Just before the two teams come out, have a watch of the highlights of today's first quarter-final, which was won by New Zealand in Exeter.

The final score does not quite tell the whole story. South Africa were level with the defending champions at half-time.

Canada are ranked number two in the world. This tournament they expect to reach their first World Cup final since 2014 and who knows, maybe go on and win the whole thing.

The Maple Leafs were untroubled during the pool stage, thrashing Fiji, Scotland and Wales.

Australia will be a tougher test, but one the North Americans should pass.

Australia's head coach Joanne Yapp, speaking to BBC Sport: "It's about fronting them up physically. We have to be brave and be prepared to move the ball.

"You get one shot and one opportunity. They have to be brave enough and take their opportunities today. It's a do-or-die moment."

They also had a strong opening 20 minutes against hosts and favourites England before they fell away in a 47-7 defeat.

Match that early performance again today, and Canada could struggle.
