    Amazing, who you bump into...

Annie Collier, US Eagle 131, and Lisa Lake, US Eagle 127, were busy testing their skills on one of the tournament skill stands with their kids.

They played in the 2006 and 2002 Rugby World Cups respectively and are now in the stands supporting Canada, having bought tickets to the Bristol quarter-finals, hoping that the United States would progress from the pools into this fixture.

They have been committed Bristol Bears fans since Ilona Maher's three-month stint at the club earlier this year, so were just heading to clear out the Ashton Gate merchandise stand after speaking to me.

Other highlights on the family trip from New York for children Maeve, Amelia, Evelyn and Declan include Stonehenge, high tea in a fancy Brighton hotel, Big Ben and the architecture.

FT New Zealand 46-17 South Africa

New Zealand await the winners of this match in Friday's semi-final.

The Defending champions were given a stern test by South Africa before eventually cruising through.

South Africa, appearing in their first quarter-final, were dominant for long spells of the first half and went into half-time level at 10-10.

But then New Zealand scored 29 points without reply and ended up as 46-17 winners.
