Joe Carpenter
Joe Carpenter scores in the corner on his England debut!
It starts with a clever kick from George Ford to find space on the left wing and Cadan Murley juggles the ball before it's scooped up by Carpenter and put down over the line.
But hold on... the referee is checking for a knock-on.
England are eager to take the line-out promptly and quickly start shifting the ball from left to right. However, another handling error hands USA a scrum and a chance to reset.
Pono Davis commits another error at the scrum to hand England a penalty. George Ford finds the corner and Curtis Langdon takes the line-out from five metres out.
England shift the play right but the ball pops out over the tryline. USA winger Rufus McClean cleans up and the ball is pumped downfield.

In response to Aidan from Chelsea re empty stadium. It was full until the lightning delay, lots have left. Also large amount support the ladies game which is great!

Agree with Aiden from Chelsea (23:56), a 20,000 seater stadium with that many empty seats? This really doesn't bode well for the 2031 World Cup. World Rugby should review the USA's readiness for the tournament, or it's going to be a failure.

Re 11:56 The weather near DC is oppressive this week. Hot and humid plus storms. Everyone sensible is indoors

All these weather breaks, and to think they are hosting the 2031 World Cup! Can't even play in some rain. It will be a disastrous World Cup at this rate.

Worth remembering not just for this game but also the football World Cup next summer. That the US, political issues aside, is hardly suited to outdoor games in the summer. Happening far too frequently.

I find it very frustrating that this game has not sold out. Surely for American Rugby this is the days you love. Surely they should have given free tickets out to the younger rugby clubs?

USA 0-14 England (29 mins)
In between lightning strikes, we've had 29 minutes of play in Washington DC and England currently lead 14-0.
USA had an early look at England's tryline with a line-out deep in the opposition 22.
However, England successfully stole the ball and a couple of minutes later, USA were down to 14 following a deliberate knock-on from Chris Hilsenbeck.
England made the most of their man advantage, with Curtis Langdon and Luke Northmore crossing the line. George Ford converted both times.
And moments before play was brought to a halt, the tourists thought they had a third try, with Alex Dombrandt bursting out from behind the maul and dotting the ball down. However, it was chalked off for obstruction.
