    FT: Benetton 31-6 Edinburgh

With no TV interview with Sean Everitt forthcoming, we'll wrap up our live coverage here.

Remember, we'll have more reaction on our dedicated Scottish Rugby topic page. An on Tuesday, Andy Burke and Tom English will get stuck into both Edinburgh's and Glasgow's performances over the weekend. That'll be worth a listen.

    Until next time, ciao.

You might not want to read it Edinburgh fans, but Andy Burke's less-than-glowing report is available here.

If you can come out from hiding behind the soda, give it a read.

  3. Lamaro praises Benetton fanspublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 1 June

    FT: Benetton 31-6 Edinburgh

Benetton captain Michele Lamaro tells Premier Sports: "We know we can produce that second-half, especially when the other team is tired.

"It's tough to come here and we knew the supporters were by our side and they gave us a big push to get to the end of this game.

"It's unbelievable. It's the main objective of our season, but now we want to keep going and give our best shot next week. Whatever happens, happens. We will be ready."

  4. Dismal Edinburgh got what they deservedpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 1 June

In a game that they had to produce their best, Edinburgh delivered arguably their worst performance of the season.

They were fortunate to go in only six points down at the break and you hoped they would lift themselves for a big second 40. Instead, they crumbled.

Benetton were very impressive. Ferocious in defence, lethal in attack and if they play like that next week they will be a threat to anyone in the playoffs.

Questions will be asked of Sean Everitt as to how his team wilted so woefully under pressure.

  5. 'Not about mentality' for Edinburghpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 1 June

    FT: Benetton 31-6 Edinburgh

    Ryan Wilson
Former Glasgow Warriors player on Premier Sports

Edinburgh will be kicking themselves at how they've played all season.

Towards the end of the season they knew they had to play more rugby and find more bonus points, and parts of their game came together. Throughout the season it was a lot of kicking, and they went for three points a lot.

That's had a massive effect come the end of the season and they've lost out through one or two bonus points.

It's not about mentality. It's more the way they've played this season, and not really gone for it.

  6. Full-time Benetton 31-6 Edinburghpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 1 June

That's it. Edinburgh's season ends in Treviso as they are played off the park by Benetton.

This was the biggest game of the season - all or nothing. It was absolutely nothing, and then a little less, from Edinburgh.

Only six points down at half-time, Benetton raced into a huge lead, punishing error after error from Edinburgh.

A try for Tomas Albarnoz and a double from Alessandro Izekor did the damage in a second-half in which Edinburgh didn't throw a punch.

Former Scotland international on Premier Sports

Edinburgh have the level of quality, and I'd hate someone to question my mentality as a player.

It's the number of errors. The league has been tight but the errors have contributed to Edinburgh not being able to get try bonus points in the games they've won.

    That's been the difference.

Well, that sums up Edinburgh's season.

Boan Venter breaks clear and kicks forward. Mark Bennett is chasing, he kicks on, and the ball dully thuds against the bottom of the post.

If that had gone anywhere else, Bennett would've been able to jump on the ball and end the game on a try.

Instead, it's a scrum. You have to laugh.

    Benetton 31-6 Edinburgh

Benetton go looking for another try, working it wide after a set piece.

The hands are absolutely brilliant until it gets to Jacob Umaga. His pass to Rhyno Smith isn't the best, with the fullback leaping towards the line.

He shakes his head, he knows it's not a try. Nice honesty from him.

I should add - the Lions aren't confirmed in the play-offs yet. The Ospreys could still pick up five points with a bonus point win over Cardiff later on.

All that is confirmed is Edinburgh's place outside the top eight.

  11. Lions pick up losing bonus point; Edinburgh all but outpublished at 72 mins

    Benetton 31-6 Edinburgh

A half-chance for Benetton as James Lang tries to force a kick through and it pops instead to Onisi Ratave. He swats Mark Bennett aside and is only brought down by a Jake Henry tap-tackle.

Meanwhile, the drama is over in Cape Town. The Stormers win 29-24 against the Lions, who pick up a losing bonus point and head to 50 points. That's enough to oust Edinburgh.

Anyway, Ben Vellacott and Cammy Scott are on for Ali Price and Chris Dean. Ben Healy looks like he's moved to 12.

Marco Zanon replaced Nacho Brex. What a game that man had.

The Stormers are back ahead, Adre Smith scoring the try and Mannie Libbok adding a conversion.

The problem for Edinburgh is, at the moment the Lions have a losing bonus point. That is enough to see Edinburgh dumped out.

Only two minutes remains in Cape Town.

  14. try

Try BENETTON 31-6 Edinburghpublished at 67 mins

    Alessandro Izekor

Izekor has a second, and he's almost embarassed by how easy that was.

Benetton send it skyward, Ignacio Mendy contests the ball and wins it, with the ball then popping into the hands of Izekor to scamper home down the right-wing.

Rhyno Smith drags the kick wide, but it'll make little difference in the end.

  15. Edinburgh all at seapublished at 66 mins

    Benetton 26-6 Edinburgh

    Andy Burke
    BBC Sport Scotland

This is woeful stuff from Edinburgh. On this evidence they are not deserving of a play-off place.

You have to give credit to Benetton, they have been outstanding on both sides of the ball, but Edinburgh have been very, very poor.

    Benetton 26-6 Edinburgh

Not to rub salt in the wound, but Jordan Hendrikse has just kicked the Lions back into the lead against the Stormers.

Edinburgh's season is coming to an end.

  17. converted try

Converted try BENETTON 26-6 Edinburghpublished at 63 mins

    Alessandro Izekor

Jake Henry takes a quick throw and Ben Healy throws it away! Tommaso Menoncello steals the ball, chips it over and gathers, and is brought down just short.

Benetton keep going and it's Izekor who eventually powers over.

That was an absolute disaster from Edinburgh - similar to the way they lost the game to Benetton in November. That's it now, surely?

    Benetton 19-6 Edinburgh

Edinburgh charge down Benetton's clearance after the restart and have a throw on the 22m line, but Dave Cherry's first dart is stolen.

Grant Gilchrist said before the game that Edinburgh had to win to deserve a spot in the play-offs. Right now, they don't.

Everyone talks about 'Huipulotu' - what about 'Brexocello'?

That midfield partnership has been phenomenal all day and all season.

  20. converted try

Converted try BENETTON 19-6 Edinburghpublished at 60 mins

    Tomas Albornoz

From a scrum, Tommaso Menoncello draws two defenders, delays the offload and then pops up to Albornoz.

He runs round Ben Healy, sells Jake Henry with a dummy, and strolls in.

Rhyno Smith adds the kick. That could be the ball game.
