Will Townsend use the bench this week?

He didn't use three of them last week when he had to use them.

You've got to use the bench.

There's good options on the bench to pick the tempo up.

Away we go again at Murrayfield.

    Tom English
BBC Scotland chief sports writer on Sportsound

Tom Jordan is a terrific footballer, wherever you put him.

He's doing all the basics right, but you have to caveat it by saying it's against Tonga. He should absolutely be considered for the 15 jersey in every Test.

  4. 'Referees and match officials need to be on top'published at 14:40 GMT

    HT: Scotland 21-0 Tonga

    Peter Wright
    Former Scotland prop on Sportsound

The referees and match officials need to be on top of these tackles from Tonga.

We can't have players getting out of the game with serious injuries, bad dislocated shoulders, bad concussions. That's the outcome nowadays.

Scotland should aim for a performance free of unforced errors every game - that was central to Joe Schmidt's influence in Ireland. Sloppiness and brain fades were not accepted. If Gregor's selections, messaging and coaching could enforce such a mentality on a consistent basis I'm sure his legacy would be enhanced.

    Alan

    Good score but unconvincing performance.

The score when Tonga have had 15 players is 0-0.

Scotland have had so many chances and haven't taken them. Put me down as frustrated.

  8. Half-timepublished at 14:31 GMT

    Scotland 21-0 Tonga

Scotland are held up over the line and that is that for the opening half at Murrayfield.

It's been 21-0 for a while now - a scoreline that will give fans shivers after last weekend. Still, I can't see a repeat.

  9. Sin-bin Harison Mataele (Tonga)published at 40 mins

    Scotland 21-0 Tonga

Tonga halt an ominous looking Scotland attack as lock Harison Mataele strays offside.

    He's duly sin-binned.

  10. 'Scotland probably need points'published at 14:27 GMT

    Scotland 21-0 Tonga

    Chris Paterson
Former Scotland international on BBC Scotland

I think Scotland probably need points again.

Tonga have had a bit momentum really in the last 10 minutes.

Scotland will want to get that back.

    Scotland 21-0 Tonga

It's all been a bit stop-start in the past 10 minutes, but Fergus Burke breaks the Tonga defensive line and hares forward.

Can the Scots find a fourth try before half-time?

A gorgeous offload from Sione Tuipulotu releases Magnus Bradbury into the Tonga 22, but Scotland can't keep hold of it.

Tonga then miss touch with a penalty.

  13. 'Scotland will be happy to do some defending'published at 14:21 GMT

    Scotland 21-0 Tonga

    Chris Paterson
Former Scotland international on BBC Scotland

I think Scotland will be quite happy to do a bit of defending.

Tonga haven't had possession at all.

You're talking about building that psychological confidence as well.

Just getting a good defensive set when you're under a little bit of pressure there with the momentum swing then winning that possession back.

Great we’re winning against an underfunded tier two nation once again. This group of players may arguably be the golden generation of Scottish rugby but what have they done to prove that?

    Matthew

The chatter around Townsend is baffling and not too disimilar to the nonsense we heard about Steve Clarke with the round ball. Scottish Rugby, for the vast majority of the 00's and 10's, was the most depressing 10 weekends of the year. Townsend revitalised the game in Scotland and has a winning record which has only been bettered by Lions legend McGeechan. To quote Janet Jackson "You dont know what you got till its gone!"

    Scotland 21-0 Tonga

    Chris Paterson

Scotland have kept their composure really well.

They were front door for that first eight or nine minutes without getting over the line.

But we said then it probably set the platform for scores come thereafter.
