Alvarez will have enjoyed that! Plenty of Uruguay fans have been lamenting the injury to their first choice scrum half, Santiago Arata but Alvarez is doing his best to ensure they don't miss him too much.

Opportunistic? Maybe. Clever? Yes. Scotland just got very flat and wide. It was clever play and Uruguay have learned from what Scotland did a few minutes ago.

    Santiago Alvarez

That will help the Uruguayan morale.

Santiago Alvarez jumps out of the line, picks off Ben Healy's pass and cruises in under the posts for the simplest of tries.

The conversion is good and suddenly the lead is just 12 points.

Worrying signs for Uruguay after a strong start. How quickly do the memories of last week's annihilation start creeping in?

Just under four years of international rugby for Duhan van der Merwe to break the record. He didn't have to do too much there.

This was the move we've been waiting for all tour to see. Well worked try and not the hardest try Duhan has had, maybe fitting it was only a five-yard stroll than an absolute worldy.

    Duhan van der Merwe

Scotland go over again, and what a moment for Duhan van der Merwe!

The big blond-haired winger dives into the corner for his 28th international try - the most of any Scotland international in history.

He moves one ahead of Stuart Hogg at the top of the pile after just 41 caps.

Just simple rugby really. First time in the game Scotland have been able to get in behind and generate quick ball.

If you can generate quick ball and multi phases then these teams will give you penalties.

  8. converted try

    Luke Crosbie

The numerical advantage instantly pays dividends for Scotland.

Some lovely hands from Matt Fagerson puts Luke Crosbie through a hole and the Edinburgh flanker has an unopposed path to the line.

Ben Healy knocks over a simple conversion.

    Uruguay 0-7 Scotland

Scotland go quickly from a penalty through George Horne and catch the hosts somewhat by surprise.

Diego Arbelo cynically stops the attack and is duly shown a yellow card.

    Scotland will tap-and-go again...

We've just got a slight delay here.

Juan Bautista Hontou has jarred his knee as he ran back towards his own line under pressure from Duhan van der Merwe.

    Wishing him a speedy recovery.

It's a decent kicking contest, it's a bit cagey. Uruguay have responded well, Scotland have been a bit tight in the midfield and getting sucked in.

I thought Uruguay could've held onto the ball and put them under pressure a little bit.

The lineout was a problem from Uruguay last time out and there are worrying signs already with two opportunities squandered by overthrows.

Uruguay pile forward again and win a lineout in Scottish territory, but it's a poor throw and Scotland clear their lines.

Ewan Ashman is the top try-scorer on tour now I think. It's really well constructed ball and Scotland were not waiting around.

Once they get that maul going it's so hard to stop.

    Ewan Ashman

Yes they can. A powerful rolling maul sees Scotland open the scoring.

Ewan Ashman does his first job by finding Max Williamson, before the hooker runs round to take the ball and dive over the line.

Ben Healy adds the extras off the tee.

    Uruguay 0-0 Scotland

Ben Healy has just produced maybe the best kick I've ever seen.

After a precise Uruguayan kick into the Scottish 22, the Edinburgh fly-half scurries back and launches a huge, spiralling kick that kicks forward and wins the Scots a 50-22.

Can they make their first visit to the home 22 count?

Already more for Uruguay fans to cheer about than last week but they need to get points on the board to reflect their strong start.

  18. Missed penaltypublished at 7 mins

    Uruguay 0-0 Scotland

Uruguay win a very kickable penalty after Scotland infringe at the lineout, but fly-half Felipe Etcheverry pushes his effort off the tee wide.

    Uruguay 0-0 Scotland

The early Uruguayan pressure comes to nothing.

Matt Fagerson wraps up the ball and earns Scotland a scrum. However, George Horne shanks his clearing kick somewhat and Uruguay have a lineout just outside the visitors' 22.

  20. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Uruguay 0-0 Scotland

It's all Uruguay in the opening stages here, and Scotland hooker Ewan Ashman concedes a penalty inside his own 22.

The hosts kick to the corner - big chance this...
