Northern Ireland's sailors Ryan Seaton and Matt McGovern finished eighth in the 49er class at the World Championships in Spain.

After securing the qualification on Friday of a third Irish boat for the 2016 Olympics in Rio, the duo continued their fine form over the weekend.

Their final two outings in Santander saw them in action in the Gold Fleet and Medal races.

Their previous best World Championship performance was 10th in 2011.

Bangor man James Espey and Annalaise Murphy both qualified Irish boats for Rio in the Laser Standard and Laser Radial classes.
