Jamie Jones, who turned professional in 2006, was playing in his first ranking semi-final
Former world champion John Higgins won the last six frames in a row to deny Wales' Jamie Jones a place in the Australian Open final.
Qualifier Jones, who hammered world number one Mark Selby 5-1 on his way to the last four, raced into a 4-0 lead against the Scot.
But Higgins put together breaks of 134 and 133 to complete a remarkable comeback.
Higgins will face Martin Gould in the final.
