Ese Agboaye: Shaun Murphy's action at the end of that frame was "controversial", but if you're not having fun, then what's the point? Am I making sense?

What you reckon, folks? Thumbs up for entertaining and fun, thumbs down for disrespectful...

  3. 'Kyren will be livid at that showmanship'published at 15:56 Greenwich Mean Time

But this match is not over yet, don't get carried away.

That last bit of showmanship from Shaun, although it's great for the crowd, Kyren will absolutely be livid.

You don't want to give your opponent any ammunition to get him going. And that will - so it will be interesting to see how Kyren comes out tonight.

  5. 'Comedy of errors from Kyren'published at 15:51 Greenwich Mean Time

    Wilson 2-6 Murphy

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Two

It's just been a comedy of errors from Kyren for some reason today.

He was imperious last night against Judd Trump but there have been a few uncharacteristic misses - simple shots, not really difficult ones.

It's the easy ones that are costing him and Shaun has gone from strength to strength, he's played really well.

  6. 'Better player by a long chalk'published at 15:44 Greenwich Mean Time

    Wilson 2-6 Murphy

    John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC Two

It's the scoreline Shaun deserves, he's been the better player by a long chalk this afternoon - 6-2 is absolutely fair.

His opponent has had limited opportunities, I'll give you that, but he's also looked a bit flat.

A 116 break to finish proceedings for the afternoon.

It could have been 123 but Shaun Murphy plays to the crowd, stroking the white around the cushions and moving the black ball with his hand over the corner pocket.

That gets a big cheer! Obviously it's a foul, but that doesn't matter a bit.

What a session of snooker from the 42-year-old 2005 world champion.

They'll resume again at 19:00 GMT.

  9. Murphy 'focused and dominant'published at 15:39 Greenwich Mean Time

    Wilson 2-5 Murphy

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

A dominant performance by Shaun Murphy. His positional success is at 96%, which just shows you the command he's had on the cue ball when he's got in.

He's just not looked like making a mistake and looked totally focused.

There have been times in Shaun's career when you see him, he's looking around the arena and he doesn't look fully into the match. But you can just see [that focus] in his facial expression all week.

An excellent cannon into the pack opens things up further and Shaun Murphy's break is up to 50 with six reds left on the table. Just a couple more needed for 6-2.

Whoever wins tonight, they'll be partying in the streets of the east of England.

Kyren Wilson hails from Kettering and Shaun Murphy grew up in nearby Irthlingborough.

Wilson coined it the 'Battle of Northamptonshire' upon reaching the final - and right now it's a battle being won by the Magician.

    John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC Two

Murphy's cueing is absolutely exemplary. He hits the ball as sweetly as anybody.

It's right that he is going to finish the session in front, he's definitely been the dominant player this afternoon.

If Kyren gets out two frames behind, he will consider it a right result.

A big frame coming up for Kyren Wilson.

[Coming back from] 6-2 behind would be a tough ask against someone playing as well as this.

At 5-3 he'd be right back in it.

Frame-ball black goes in - just about, off the jaw - despite difficult bridging over a red.

Now, can the Magician conjure up the final's first century?

  20. Postpublished at 15:19 Greenwich Mean Time

    Wilson 2-4 Murphy

The Magician has been really rewarded for a couple of very aggressive shots there, scattering the reds in successive pots.

And now he's in prime position, the break up to 50 and everything out in the open waiting to be deposited.
