That's monstrous. That really is monstrous.
It's nowhere near where Kyren was playing the cue ball.

That's monstrous. That really is monstrous.
It's nowhere near where Kyren was playing the cue ball.
Wilson 7-9 Murphy
Massive stroke of luck for Wilson as, from a safety, a red drifts over the corner pocket.... but the cue ball drops behind the brown in baulk to snooker Shaun Murphy.
Wilson 7-9 Murphy
Now then, Shaun Murphy pots a lovely ball across the nap into the green corner, three-quarter length of the table.
A chance, if he can break the pack open in the next few shots...
But, nope, runs out of position. Kyren Wilson breathes again.

And, when the frame restarts, Shaun Murphy makes the schoolboy error that is the curse of club players everywhere, catching the blue after the break-off.
Kyren Wilson pots a mid-range red but is snookered on every colour so needs a swerve just to hit the black.
Wilson 7-9 Murphy
A few tippy-tappy shots into the pack follow, and the players agree to rack the balls up again.
Wilson 7-9 Murphy
And Shaun Murphy will take that break-off.
Cue ball drops in right behind the yellow. Classy escape first time by Kyren Wilson though.

Maybe that long red he missed was the moment Kyren lost the Masters. I'm not sure it was the right shot.

Shaun's done well here, stopped the momentum and restored that belief and confidence because it was rocking a little bit.
It was a pressure break, after what's gone before.
But there's still plenty of snooker left in this final...
Wilson 7-9 Murphy
We said no margin for error - and Wilson makes an error. Twice. Shaun Murphy duly punishes him, stops the rot and, having previously gone an hour without barely potting a ball, he's now one frame from claiming a second Masters title.
Some exhibition shots to finish the frame will make him feel a lot better too.
Wilson 7-8 Murphy
Kyren Wilson tries to develop one of the reds in potting a pink to middle - he does so, but still doesn't land on it.
No margin for error now - needs all four remaining reds with blacks plus the colours. But for now, a safety is the only course of action.
Wilson 7-8 Murphy
Frame-ball red, along the cushion.... catches the jaws and stays out!
Kyren Wilson back at the table 65 behind with 67 on.
Four reds on cushions. He couldn't, could he? Would be a clearance for the ages but he's probably just looking at getting back into this frame, not winning it in one visit.

There are one or two of them not quite going in the middle, but I don't blame Shaun for that.
He's taken these very well.
Wilson 7-8 Murphy
Shaun Murphy really taking his time over each shot here.
He's been starved of table time since the mid-session interval and knows how vital this visit is.
His lead is past 40.

This is the chance Shaun has been waiting for.
He won't get a better chance than this to steady the ship.
If ever he needed a break of 60 or above, he certainly needs it now.
Wilson 7-8 Murphy
Calling all pockets!
Kyren Wilson feels he's forced into a far-from-easy long red with the cue ball near the baulk cushion and no safety apparent.
He misses it, and reds fly everywhere, several threatening pockets - but all staying on the table, leaving a very, very open table for a relieved and grateful Shaun Murphy.
Can he capitalise and find the form he showed earlier in the final?
Wilson 7-8 Murphy
For the second time tonight, Kyren Wilson misses twice when he can hit reds.
The referee again administers the warning that he will forfeit the frame if he doesn't make contact with a red this time...
There's an intake of breath as Wilson rolls the white the length of the table... but it hits a red on the far cushion and stays safe.

Martin Warren: This Masters final is going the distance.. the response from Kyren Wilson has been superb.
Colin the caretaker: Can't win it sitting in your seat Shaun. If it goes to 8-8 my money's on Kyren.
Billy: If Shaun doesn't win the next frame, you can see Kyren Wilson going on to win this.
Wilson 7-8 Murphy
Shaun Murphy takes his time to contemplate a very tough-looking plant among the pack, with two reds a little bit apart.
It flies in - and the Magician's potting drought is over.
But not for long. After a yellow, he misses the next red and he's now scored four points in the past hour, not one.

What a ding dong of a Masters final this has turned into! Murphy has not done much wrong, and Wilson suddenly found extra gears. Is there any chance of a final frame decider with a re-spotted black?
James
Stephen Hendry still has nightmares about losing a Masters final like that to Mark Williams in 1998...
Wilson 7-8 Murphy
Frame 16 under way and our TV commentators inform us it's almost half an hour since Shaun Murphy last potted a ball.
He's only potted one ball in around an hour. And when a mid-distance red down the right side rattles in the jaws, that stat does not change.
