  1. 'Phenomenal accuracy'published at 11:50 British Summer Time 28 April

    O'Sullivan 3-2 Day

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

It was a stunning reply from Ronnie O'Sullivan. We've talked about how tight these pockets are - to pot that red at speed, the accuracy was phenomenal.

You've got to take your chances against this man. You don't get many and sometimes they are only half-chances. But if you don't take them, he's going to punish you.

    O'Sullivan 3-2 Day

This was the shot Ronnie O'Sullivan was faced with...

He not only knocked it up the side of the table into the top left corner, he also screwed back to obtain perfect position on the black to set up the clearance. Magical.

    O'Sullivan 3-2 Day

After that superb red, the clearance seemed inevitable and so it proves as Ronnie O'Sullivan adds a break of 83 to add to his earlier 123 and 84.

    O'Sullivan 2-2 Day

The 'Rocket' runs out of prime position himself but picks out an absolute pearler of a red into the middle pocket.

Ryan Day can only watch and hope. Two reds remaining - one not ideally positioned near the side of the table. O'Sullivan with a 48-37 lead - and he creams it up the table into the yellow pocket. Brilliant.

But Ryan Day never looked totally comfortable position-wise and can only make 36 from that opening.

He misses a red to the middle and Ronnie O'Sullivan's eyes light up.

  7. 'First time Ronnie's looked agitated'published at 11:39 British Summer Time 28 April

    O'Sullivan 2-2 Day

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

This is the first time in the Championship that Ronnie has looked a little bit agitated or frustrated.

One or two easy misses in the previous frame. A real chance for Ryan Day to put his mark on this match.

It's all about concentration, controlling that cue ball - he's got to sense that Ronnie has gone off the boil a bit since that second frame.

  8. Big chance for Daypublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 28 April

    O'Sullivan 2-2 Day

A real puzzle for Ronnie O'Sullivan after he's left in a pickle by Ryan Day.

How to get the cue ball safe from here? He decides he can't, goes for a risky red to the middle pocket and leaves Day right in among the balls in frame five.

    O'Sullivan 2-2 Day

From the sublime to the ridiculous for Ryan Day as the players resume after the interval.

Strokes in a glorious long red - then misses a black off the spot by a mile.

No damage done in terms of he leaves everything safe - but the damage to his confidence, which had been rebuilt by coming from 2-0 down? Well, signs aren't great from his next effort at a red which is also well awry.

Any meeting between Shaun Murphy and Stephen Maguire leads to questions about the so-called 'Chalkgate' from their match at the 2004 Grand Prix when Maguire forgot his chalk, the first-round tie was delayed and he was docked a frame.

On Monday, Murphy insisted he had not caused the referee to dock a frame away from Maguire and said: "It was a massive piece of wrong time, wrong place and bad journalism.

"People still think I had him docked a frame for forgetting his chalk, which isn’t the case. The tournament director docked him a frame because he forced the match to start late. It wasn’t the referee, it wasn’t me, it wasn’t anyone else.

"People saw me and the referee talking and assumed I had him docked a frame. I perhaps should have sat in my chair and said nothing, I was guilty of talking to the referee. It looked as if I said A, B and C and led to X, Y and Z, but it’s not the case.

"If it was today with social media, I have my platform and could communicate to people. There are more cameras and microphones so it would have been much clearer what I did say and we wouldn’t have had this non-issue for 20 years.

"But it still gets brought up, he hasn't forgotten his chalk since and he will still have it when we play."

Maguire, who won the match 5-2, felt differently and said: "We can’t resolve it because he always says he never said to the referee. But he did. He knows he did. But I’m over it."

    Murphy 8-12 Maguire

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Two

Over the last few seasons, by his own standards, Stephen Maguire has had a lean time.

He hasn't performed anywhere the way he's performed at this Championship.

He looks somewhere near back to the form when he was in the top echelons of the game.

  13. Murphy clinging onpublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 28 April

    Murphy 8-12 Maguire

Last frame before the mid-session interval or last frame of the match?

Shaun Murphy, as cold as ice, makes his highest break of the match - a 67 - and has the fourth frame of the session in the bag.

He will be returning after the break.

A quick break in play after a thrilling opening first four frames means it's back to the Crucible foyer for the fans, heading for the refreshment or merchandise stands.

Those on table two have witnessed Ronnie O'Sullivan superbly race through the opening two frames with breaks of 123 and 84 and it looked like being 3-0 when Ryan Day missed a black and left an open table when 44-16 ahead.

But Day was given a second chance, which he took and then showed his class with a break of 70 to leave it at 2-2.

With Stephen Maguire closing in on a win over Shaun Murphy, those on table one could soon be seeing the screen raised and an extra bonus of being able to watch some O'Sullivan action.

  15. 'Day will be delighted'published at 11:15 British Summer Time 28 April

    O'Sullivan 2-2 Day

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

At the start of the match, if you'd offered Ryan 2-2 at the interval, he'd have bitten your hand off.

Especially after being 2-0 down - and especially the way Ronnie O'Sullivan started.

Ryan will be delighted at his first session's work.

Ooh, Ronnie O'Sullivan thinks he's dropped one of those reds along the cushion and into the corner pocket - but it stays in the jaws.

And that's the end of the frame as Ryan Day pounces to wrap it up.

  18. Maguire one frame from victorypublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 28 April

    Murphy 7-12 Maguire

Shaun Murphy was going smoothly but after a poor positional shot he breaks down on 43, gifting a chance to Stephen Maguire. The Scot makes no mistakes, sinking a wonderful red down the table in a break 0f 73.

    One more frame needed.

And Ryan Day plays a very careless safety, dislodging one of the "safe" reds.

Ronnie O'Sullivan rolls in a very tricky red with the cue ball on the cushion and Day will be squirming in his chair. Far from an easy clearance, mind.

  20. Postpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 28 April

    O'Sullivan 2-1 Day

A very handy contribution of 70 from Ryan Day - he only needed one more red to clinch the frame but is unlucky to land on nothing after cannoning into a small cluster of reds off the black.

Still 75 points on the table...
