Many snooker fans will be delighted to see David Gilbert doing so well at the Crucible. His brand of attacking snooker is great to watch, and he’s produced the form he showed when he reached the semi-finals back in 2019.

As for Stephen Maguire, he knows he needs a fast start this afternoon if he’s to fight back and turn around the 10-6 deficit.

But the Scottish star can win frames quickly when he gets on a roll, and knows this match isn’t over if can find his best form.

    Bingham 4-4 O'Sullivan

Ronnie O’Sullivan resumes at 4-4 against Stuart Bingham this afternoon so it’s all to play for.

The seven-time world champion recovered from 3-1 down to get out of the first session level but he’ll have to put some frustration behind him. The 'Rocket' rapped his cue on the table at one point yesterday after looking out of sorts.

The 2015 winner Bingham started the match strongly, taking the first two frames with breaks of 55 and 75 and ended the session by winning the final frame. He will try to draw on the memory of beating O’Sullivan 13-9 at the same stage on his way to the title.

However, the four-time world champion has roared back winning the final three frames of the session to set up an intriguing conclusion to their match this evening (19:00 BST).

With Jak Jones defeating Judd Trump a little earlier the partition went up and the Scot looked in his element playing in front of the full auditorium.

He must be delighted with how things panned out. It looked like he could have been staring down the barrel.
