  1. 'Cue ball doing bit of mileage'published at 14:27 British Summer Time 5 May

    Wilson 3-0 Jones

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

The cue ball is doing a bit of mileage on this break but Kyren just keeps potting.

Wilson's break up to 51 as the ominous signs grow for Jak Jones...

I bumped into Finley, Jamie, Rory and Peter outside, who are on down from Edinburgh on a snooker-themed stag do in Sheffield.

Peter (far right), fancied Jak Jones in a decider, while Finley (far left) says "it'll be tight" and possibly an epic late-night finish on Monday.

The Stag has certainly arrived at the Crucible looking the part.

Kyren Wilson, currently 12th in the world rankings, will rise all the way up to third if he wins the World Championship.

He's up to 28 on this break and shrugs off a poor positional shot with a fine recovery pot on a red with the rest. And does the same again soon after.

  4. Postpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 5 May

    Wilson 3-0 Jones

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

The interval for Jak Jones would be so much more comfortable if he can get a frame on the board.

If you go in 4-0, you just don't relax at all. He'd love to get this frame on the board.

However, it's Kyren Wilson first in once again with a classy mid-to-long distance red.

  5. 'Wilson's game suited to Sheffield success'published at 14:20 British Summer Time 5 May

    Wilson 3-0 Jones

    Shaun Murphy
2005 world champion speaking to BBC Sport

Kyren Wilson has been on this trajectory to scale this mountain for a long time. His career has gone in the absolute correct manner. He came on the Tour, he won the Shanghai Masters and some smaller events.

He got to the final of the Masters, he got to the final here and didn’t make it but he has done things in the correct order and he has now built a style and a game that is ideally suited to success here. That is why he is the clear favourite.

  6. Early night for Wilson?published at 14:19 British Summer Time 5 May

    Wilson 3-0 Jones

Kyren Wilson said he had too much beer and pizza before he lost the 2020 final to Ronnie O'Sullivan.

He looks fresh out there this time. And no wonder, after sealing his semi-final victory on Saturday afternoon, while Jak Jones won't have been in bed any time before midnight.

  7. 'Crucible nerves quite evident'published at 14:17 British Summer Time 5 May

    Wilson 3-0 Jones

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Two

He needs a frame on the board very quickly, Jak Jones. He's making a lot of errors out there and he looks very edgy.

There's no clarity with his decision-making and that's Crucible nerves, there's no doubt about it, it's quite evident.

  8. Wilson moves three in frontpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 5 May

    Wilson 3-0 Jones

Kyren Wilson is making mistakes. But he's not being punished for them.

And then he's punishing Jak Jones' failure to punish him. If you see what I mean.

Michael Marshall: People with a ticket for tomorrow's final session must be thinking will I get a refund? Hopefully Jak can make a match of it.

  10. Postpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 5 May

    Wilson 2-0 Jones

Kyren Wilson probably hasn't missed an easier ball all tournament - straight blue in the corner off the pink spot and he makes a right mess of it.

The break of 47 puts him in command of this frame though - and Jak Jones cannot punish the miss, over-cutting a black with the rest after his opening red.

  11. 'Don't want to be chasing'published at 14:10 British Summer Time 5 May

    Wilson 2-0 Jones

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

It's quite an important point of the match, these early stages.

You don't want to be chasing. Jak Jones lost the first three frames against Stuart Bingham and managed to win the fourth which turned the game.

But I don't think it will be as easy to get back in the match if Kyren Wilson gets a big lead because he's a very good front-runner. Jak needs to be careful as this first session could run away from him very quickly.

  12. Postpublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 5 May

    Wilson 2-0 Jones

A slightly errant Jak Jones safety leaves a red near the corner and Kyren Wilson blitzes it in.

He'll have to build a break mostly on the blue with black tied up and the pink in baulk - but the reds are split every nicely indeed.

  13. Postpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 5 May

    Wilson 2-0 Jones

Jak Jones still hasn't settled, well off target with an admittedly difficult but straight red with the spider.

Just the 13 points on the board after Kyren Wilson badly butchered the kind of long red he potted to get himself among the balls for his opening-frame clearance.

    Shaun Murphy
2005 world champion on BBC Two

I just remember being absolutely terrified in my first World final (Murphy, like Jak Jones, reached the final as a qualifier in 2005, going on to beat Matthew Stevens.)

I found it hard to breathe - if you'd have asked me to spell my name for the first few frames I'd have really struggled.

Once I settled I was OK - but the longer it takes Jak Jones to settle, the harder this is going to get.

  15. Wilson doubles advantagepublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 5 May

    Wilson 2-0 Jones

Delicious delicate red to the middle from Jak Jones but he misses the black to follow and that's the end of frame two as Kyren Wilson mops up the colours.

Far scrappier than the opening frame's 129 clearance but, ultimately, the same outcome.

  16. Highest first-frame break in final?published at 13:54 British Summer Time 5 May

#bbcsnooker, via WhatsApp on 03301231826 or text 81111 (UK only, standard message rates apply)

Question from Alex Crouch, who is following our coverage: Is that the highest break (Kyren Wilson 129) in the opening frame of a World Snooker Championship final?

Answer: Our man at the Crucible, Steve Sutcliffe, says no. Stephen Hendry knocked in a 136 break 31 years ago against Jimmy White.

  17. Postpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 5 May

    Wilson 1-0 Jones

Now then, Kyren Wilson misses a very routine pink to middle when he needed just that and the next red to leave Jak Jones needing snookers.

  18. Postpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 5 May

    Wilson 1-0 Jones

But the Jak Jones riposte ends on 29 with a missed red along the cushion.

Kyren Wilson cuts said red in, very finely, and now has a golden chance to double his lead.

  19. 'Would be biggest shock in snooker'published at 13:50 British Summer Time 5 May

    Wilson 1-0 Jones

    Shaun Murphy
2005 world champion speaking to BBC Sport

I think if Jak Jones wins this tournament it will be the biggest shock in snooker ever and it will be one of the biggest shocks in British sporting history, if not global, of all time. It is completely unexpected and nobody saw this coming. Yet here he is with a chance.

I can assure you that he is not 200/1 now. Kyren is definitely favourite but not by much. I just have this feeling that Jak Jones is going to do it and pull off not only the biggest shock in snooker but the biggest shock in sport.

He is breaking new ground every day. This fairy story of Jak Jones... this magical story, I just think he is going to do it.

  20. Counter-chance for Jonespublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 5 May

    Wilson 1-0 Jones

But the hay-making ends on 52 with a very rare miss with the rest from Kyren Wilson, who is usually so reliable with the added equipment.

Chance for Jak Jones to counter - which is what he's made a living out of in this tournament.
