Summary

  1. Postpublished at 16:28 British Summer Time

    *Jarry 3-6 6-7 (4-7) 1-2 Norrie

Haha, a little bit of kidology from Nicolas Jarry as he shapes to start his service motion on second serve and then stops to bounce the ball a couple more times. That was what he was complaining about Norrie doing at the end of the second set.

It doesn't work for the man from Chile as he double-faults and we're back to deuce.

  2. Jarry saves break pointpublished at 16:26 British Summer Time

    *Jarry 3-6 6-7 (4-7) 1-2 Norrie

Another break-point chance for Cameron Norrie, thanks to a fine approach that Nicolas Jarry, stationed at the net, can't get back.

Yet again, that big serve gets Jarry out of trouble. Another ace. Deuce.

  3. Sabalenka holdspublished at 16:23 British Summer Time

    Sabalenka 4-1 Mertens*

Talk about hitting the ground running.

Aryna Sabalenka has really settled into her rhythm here.

She holds to 15, breezing to a 4-1 lead in this first set against 24th seed Elise Mertens.

  4. 'Norrie looks like he cannot miss'published at 16:23 British Summer Time

    *Jarry 3-6 6-7 (4-7) 1-2 Norrie

    Greg Rusedski
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra 2 and BBC Sounds

Cameron Norrie looks like he cannot miss at the moment.

This is the sort of tennis he was playing when he was making the semi-finals and was in the top 10. You got nothing for free, you had to earn every single point.

He is really off to a good start. If he can get an early break here, it would be huge.

  5. 'A good hold from Jarry'published at 16:22 British Summer Time

    *Jarry 3-6 6-7 (4-7) 1-2 Norrie

    Simon Reed
    BBC commentator on BBC iPlayer

Norrie is returning better and better as the game has gone on but Jarry has gone ahead of Fritz for the leading ace-man [at Wimbledon this year].

Jarry was in a bit of a pickle at the end of the second set but it is a good hold from him. That's why he is at the top of the pile.

  6. Norrie holdspublished at 16:22 British Summer Time

    *Jarry 3-6 6-7 (4-7) 1-2 Norrie

A rapid service hold from Cameron Norrie and he's back in front in the third set.

  7. Sabalenka breakspublished at 16:21 British Summer Time

    *Sabalenka 3-1 Mertens

Oh, Aryna Sabalenka - that is stunning.

The three-time Grand Slam winner hits a crunching forehand winner down the line to earn two break points.

When Elise Mertens just about returns a stonking forehand, the Belarusian crashes a forehand winner to the corner to take the break.

The sun is back out and the covers are coming off.

  9. Jarry saves break point to holdpublished at 16:20 British Summer Time

    Jarry 3-6 6-7 (4-7) 1-1 Norrie*

Big chance here for Cameron Norrie for an early break.

A 135mph ace out wide is more than enough to save the break point.

That's quickly followed by ace number 19 of the match for Nicolas Jarry, who has served more aces than any other player in the singles at Wimbledon this year.

  10. 'Jarry is getting a bit antsy'published at 16:18 British Summer Time

    *Jarry 3-6 6-7 (4-7) 0-1 Norrie

    Tim Henman
Former British number one on BBC Two

Cam Norrie is not going to be bothered by what Jarry is saying. He was the server, so the rule is that you go with the rhythm of the server.

Jarry is getting a bit antsy now. Let's hope he forgets about it for his service game.

  11. Sabalenka holdspublished at 16:16 British Summer Time

    Sabalenka 2-1 Mertens*

    Some classic Aryna Sabalenka there.

An ace, a one-two punch and a double backhand winner.

Top stuff from the world number one.

It is just one of those days in SW19.

The weather can’t make up its mind and no sooner has another downpour halted play than the sun is fighting its way through again.

Umbrella sales will be skyrocketing but this shouldn’t be a long delay. I can’t promise there won’t be another, though.

    Jarry 3-6 6-7 (4-7) 0-0 Norrie*

    Jonathan Jurejko
BBC Sport senior tennis reporter at Wimbledon

Now it's difficult to say the second set was an entertaining watch, but Cameron Norrie doesn't care.

The British number three struggled to get on top of Nicolas Jarry for the most part, but ramping up the aggression with his return of serve at the start of the tie-break paid dividends.

"Let's go Norrie, let's go!" rings around Court One.

Nozzer bears his gnashers and roars to the fans jumping up to their feet. Make more noise!

  15. Mertens holdspublished at 16:13 British Summer Time

    *Sabalenka 1-1 Mertens

Very good hold from Elise Mertens.

The Belgian double-faults with her opening serve, but takes the next four points to keep us on serve.

These two used to be double partners - winning two majors together - so we can expect they're fairly familiar with one another's game.

  16. 'Fortune favours the brave'published at 16:13 British Summer Time

    Jarry 3-6 6-7 (4-7) 0-0 Norrie*

    Greg Rusedski
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra 2 and BBC Sounds

Unbelievable! That last point shows that fortune favours the brave.

He takes the backhand on, plum on the line, and deserves that second set. Boy did he play well!

There was a difference of two points between the players in that second set, but it's Cameron Norrie who comes up trumps. He won the big points at the big moments.

  17. 'That's what Norrie does!'published at 16:13 British Summer Time

    Jarry 3-6 6-7 (4-7) 0-0 Norrie*

    Tim Henman
Former British number one on BBC Two

That's what Norrie does! He soaks it up and stays in the rally. What a way to finish the set.

He gives his opponents very few opportunities. It has been great tennis from both men, the depth inside the baseline especially.

  18. Postpublished at 16:12 British Summer Time

    Jarry 3-6 6-7 (4-7) 0-0 Norrie*

Five unforced errors by Cameron Norrie in that set, to go with only three in the first.

He takes a walk off court, while Nicolas Jarry has a prolonged chat with the chair umpire about something - maybe an issue about the time taken between Cameron Norrie's first and second serves is what we can interpret.

  19. Sabalenka holdspublished at 16:11 British Summer Time

    Sabalenka 1-0 Mertens*

World number one Aryna Sabalenka holds in the opening service game in the first set.

  20. 'My ears are still hurting'published at 16:08 British Summer Time

    Sabalenka v Mertens

Aryna Sabalenka's win against Emma Raducanu on Friday night was probably the match of the Championships so far.

"What an atmosphere – my ears are still hurting. It was super loud," said Sabalenka.

"I was just trying to tell myself 'they're cheering for me'. I had goosebumps."
