    Kartal 5-5 Pavlyuchenkova*

My eyes are hurting looking back at the point-by-point timeline of each game in this opening set.

Only three of the 10 games have gone by without a single break point and we've had at least three break points in three of those games.

There's going to be a lot of talk about that error with the electronic line calling system but Sonay Kartal and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova are putting on a real show.

No more rain outside but it has become very muggy. Henman Hill is packed to watch the two Brits this afternoon. The decision to replay that point because of the line call tech issue wasn’t very popular even if it did favour the home player, with a few groans at the announcement.

  3. 'Pavlyuchenkova getting back on track'published at 14:42 British Summer Time 6 July

Pavlyuchenkova is still talking positively to herself but that is tough for her. She has been able to get back on track and maybe she can put that system fault behind her.

That was another lengthy game. It feels like the returners have been well in every game and there have been so many break points.

    *Jarry 0-1 Norrie

    Jonathan Jurejko
BBC Sport senior tennis reporter at Wimbledon

Ooof! Nicolas Jarry has more power than a jackhammer and shows it in the first point of the match.

That's a rude awakening for anyone thinking Cameron Norrie is going to breeze through this.

I'm sat next to Chilean journalist Sebastian Varela, who thinks the opposite.

Knowing Jarry's game inside out, he's going for his compatriot in three...

Two winners on the first two points for Nicolas Jarry and Cameron Norrie is under pressure in his opening service game.

Jarry sets up the next point well too but doesn't put away a backhand volley and then nets a return - 30-30.

Norrie long - break point. Saved with another good serve, and Norrie holds.

    An eventful opener.

  6. 'Pavlyuchenkova trying to be aggressive on returns'published at 14:41 British Summer Time 6 July

    Kartal 5-5 Pavlyuchenkova*

    Naomi Broady
British player on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova is at least 1ft inside the baseline on returns here.

She is trying to be aggressive, so I think Sonay Kartal should use that against her opponent. If she is going to step in, go body and try to push her back.

  7. Pavlyuchenkova breaks backpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 6 July

The electronic line calling system is working fine now when Sonay Kartal goes long for third deuce.

It's flipped back the other way now with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova earning a third break point.

    *Kartal 5-4 Pavlyuchenkova

Sonay Kartal can see the finishing line in this first set and saves break again.

Kartal kicks on for set point.

Edge of the seat stuff here.

  9. Second break back point Pavlyuchenkovapublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 6 July

    *Kartal 5-4 Pavlyuchenkova

A 31st unforced error from Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova allows Sonay Kartal to save.

But Pavlyuchenkova has a second break point.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova takes a 0-30 lead but Sonay Kartal wins a couple of points to level.

Pavlyuchenkova opens up her body and guides a winner into the corner for break back point.

That is rough for Pavlyuchenkova. Now you have the job of trying to compose yourself when you know that you should have been a game up.

This is a mountain to overcome mentally.

    *Kartal 5-4 Pavlyuchenkova

No time for Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova to dwell on what has just happened in that previous game.

The Russian needs a break back to avoid letting the first set slip.

  14. 'Kartal looking experienced beyond her years'published at 14:35 British Summer Time 6 July

    *Kartal 5-4 Pavlyuchenkova

    Naomi Broady
British player on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

Sonay Kartal is getting some great depth on her shots. She is just peppering Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova's baseline.

She has also increased her margins at the moment and just using the central channel a little bit more in the big moments. She is looking experienced beyond her years.

    My my, that is contentious.

If that proves to be the decisive break in this set then I'm sure Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova will have a lot to say about it.

Had Sonay Kartal's shot been called out earlier as Pavlyuchenkova had advantage - as it should have been - she would have wrapped up that hold.

Instead she's down a break of serve with Kartal serving for the set.

The Russian is muttering to the umpire at the change of ends. Understandably so.

Understandably, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova is not happy.

Pavlyuchenkova makes her case to the umpire at the change of ends, saying "you took the game away from me."

That faulty line call has played a major role in this match.

Kartal leads by a break and will serve for the set.

Technically, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova has already won this game but officially that is not the case.

Sonay Kartal gets to break point.

  19. 'That could have changed the set'published at 14:33 British Summer Time 6 July

    Naomi Cavaday

There is not a lot between these too. You could make a case for either one winning.

The umpire is asking to replay the point as the electronic line-calling system was unable to track the ball in the previous point. Pavlyuchenkova has now lost the point and that could well have changed the set.

  20. Fifth deucepublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 6 July

    Kartal 4-4 Pavlyuchenkova*

    Ah.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova loses the replayed point and we're back to deuce.

This could be a major talking point if Sonay Kartal takes the set.

Pavlyuchenkova does get back to advantage but only briefly.
