I guess this is where you also see the experience of Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

When someone is playing in their 16th Wimbledon, they have been a Grand Slam finalist and they have been as high as world number 11 - they have experience.

She has been through everything, so she realised there was no need to panic.

  4. Second break point Kartalpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 6 July

    Kartal 3-3 Pavlyuchenkova*

Saved with authority by Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova who rips a forehand winner for deuce.

The forehand lets Pavlyuchenkova down next time, though, and Kartal has another look at break point.

  5. Break point Kartalpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 6 July

    Kartal 3-3 Pavlyuchenkova*

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova leads 30-0 but the net cord is not her friend when a forehand drops back to her side for 30-15.

Sonay Kartal welcomes a double fault for 30-30.

Pavlyuchenkova puts a drop shot into the net and Kartal has another chance to go a break up.

  6. 'Pavlyuchenkova needs to be patient'published at 14:05 British Summer Time 6 July

    Tracy Austin
Two-time Grand Slam champion on BBC One

Pavlyuchenkova is going to have to have to be patient and recognise the speed of Kartal. But that was impressive court coverage from her, especially when you think this is her 16th appearance in this Championship.

  7. 'We all know how superstitious players are'published at 14:04 British Summer Time 6 July

    Jarry v Norrie

    Leon Smith
GB Davis Cup captain on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

Cameron Norrie isn't someone that is always massively expressive, although you do get some players that are like that.

But I always prefer when he does engage a little bit more, especially here at Wimbledon, because that extra bit of adrenaline from bringing the crowd into play is really important when you really needed them behind you in crucial moments.

His love of Court One comes from winning a lot on it, and we all know how superstitious players are. He has a good feeling about it so you have to keep that going.

  8. 'Important to use crowd to your advantage'published at 14:04 British Summer Time 6 July

    Jarry v Norrie

Cameron Norrie says he used a crowd tactic deployed by Sir Andy Murray to get himself fired up during his third-round Wimbledon victory over Italian Matteo Bellucci on Friday.

Playing on Court One - which he describes as his favourite at the tournament - the 29-year-old said he picked out members of the crowd to feed off their energy as he battled to a 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 6-3 victory.

"I think it's important to use the crowd to your advantage," he said. "I was just pulling from random people in the crowd today, getting fired up with them. You can see they're loving it."

Focusing on particularly passionate individuals in the crowd to motivate himself was a strategy often used by three-time Grand Slam champion Murray.

At Indian Wells last year, former world number one Murray paid tribute to a fan who had provided him with constant support in a first-round win over David Goffin.

"I wanted to pull from the energy from not just my team but from some random people in the crowd. I've seen Andy Murray do that a lot in his matches," Norrie added.

Smart from Pavlyuchenkova. She knows Kartal's movement is her strength so she will only be too willing to chase down the ball.

The 34-year-old hangs back at the baseline whipping the ball from one side of the court to the other and Kartal scurries after it, meeting each ball until a drop shot leaves the Brit with her hands on her hips and staring at the ball.

Probably wondering what else she had to do there to win that point. And also probably getting her breath back.

  10. 'Kartal doesn't have the biggest serve'published at 14:02 British Summer Time 6 July

There are different vibes in the players boxes. Kartal's is full whereas Pavlyuchenkova's has a lot of free seats.

Once Kartal is settled, she is very good. She is not known for having the biggest serve out there, but she has improved a lot on her accuracy.

    Incredible!

Sonay Kartal might have just run 5k en route to eventually conceding that last point.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova sends the Briton the width of the baseline on four occasions before eventually getting the winner and the break back.

    *Kartal 3-2 Pavlyuchenkova

A first show of emotion from Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova as she lets out a shout to celebrate a winner for 30-30.

It has to be tough playing on Centre Court against a British hope.

A 12th unforced error of the match from Pavlyuchenkova puts Kartal within a point of holding but the Russian gets back to deuce.

A brilliant three games from Sonay Kartal!

She was 2-0 down but showed no panic and just settled her nerves.

Her feet weren't quite moving the way she would want them to and she wasn't adapting to the power that was coming at her, but it only took her two games to get it bang on.

  15. 'Kartal's speed is impressive'published at 13:58 British Summer Time 6 July

    *Kartal 3-2 Pavlyuchenkova

    Anne Keothavong
Former British number one on BBC TV

Pavlyuchenkova is an experienced pro and has been around long enough to know how to handle these situations. She is still trying to work out her opponent at the moment.

Centre Court definitely feels more intimate than number one but the speed and balance of Sonay Kartal is so impressive.

Leon Smith makes a great point.

I'd completely forgotten about that strapping on Sonay Kartal's right knee. It clearly isn't impeding her movement after that sprint to the net a few moments ago.

We have talked about the strapping on Sonay Kartal's right knee, but the good news is that as she moved up to that drop shot there seemed to be nothing wrong with her movement.

She was going at full speed and she managed to decelerate on it as well without any issues.

And why shouldn't she be? Three in a row to take the lead. Very impressive.

  20. Norrie up next on Court Onepublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 6 July

    Jarry v Norrie

The early conclusion of the opening match on Court One means we'll be seeing Cameron Norrie, Britain's only remaining representative in the men's singles, a little earlier than we anticipated!

We'll have build-up to that match in amongst the updates of Sonay Kartal's progress on Centre Court.
