Alexandre Muller is making of a match of this.

It's all very well for us to sit here and think it is all one-way traffic, but he is 41 in the world and number 4 in France. He has also won a tour title this year.

He is a very fine player but it doesn't always look like that when you're up against the best of all-time. He is well capable of putting a couple of heavy strikes in.

    Scintillating stuff from Novak Djokovic.

He holds in the blink of an eye, serving up three aces on the way.

    Back to you, Alexandre.

That's such brilliant resilience from Alexandre Muller.

He saves five break points before taking his first opportunity to put the Serb back on serve.

Alexandre Muller has not been able to get any cheap points behind the serve, they have to get into these baseline exchanges.

The tables are beginning to turn on Court One.

Have the nerves got to Dayana Yastremska while trying to serve out set one? Two double faults in one game would suggest so.

Coco Gauff has been here before and has all the experience, even at just 21 years old.

It looks like Gauff's friends and family are sitting just in front of me.

They've been very vocal throughout, jumping to their feet and applauding at every opportunity.

  7. Impressive Pinnington Jones throughpublished at 20:21 British Summer Time

Jack Pinnington Jones confirms my suspicions that I am sat near his friends by looking to them and shaking a celebratory fist at sealing that win, a superb performance when it looked like the third set was going away from him.

I make that 10 British players through to round two, the most this century and only matched by 2022.

What a victory for the Wimbledon debutant!

Jack Pinnington Jones wins five games in a row to complete a straight set win and becomes the 10th British player to reach the second round of the singles events.

  9. Gauff breaks backpublished at 20:19 British Summer Time

    Yastremska 5-4 Gauff*

Dayana Yastremska double-faults on set point, and Coco Gauff produces a great return at deuce to force another error from the Ukrainian.

    And Gauff completes the break!

How big will that game be in this match?

I know there’s a couple of pretty big games going on elsewhere at the moment but I would urge you to pop the feed of what could be the final stages of this match on a device. It has been a cracker and the crowd are on their feet as Jack Pinnington Jones breaks.

A lot of the points Muller is winning is because he has been able to keep the points short with a good serve to set up a winning shot.

Once you get into a longer rally, it's Djokovic who is dominating the side to side and making him move. He hasn't won that many long rallies.

  14. Gauff holdspublished at 20:14 British Summer Time

    *Yastremska 5-3 Gauff

Visible frustration from Coco Gauff as she slips on the grass after serving, even though she wins the point.

The American recovers to reduce her deficit, but Dayana Yastremska will now be serving for the first set.

  15. Djokovic holdspublished at 20:13 British Summer Time

    *Muller 1-6 3-4 Djokovic

This is the problem for Alexandre Muller.

He battles on serve to hold, only for Novak Djokovic to almost instantly put the pressure back on him by breezing through his own service game.

  16. Postpublished at 20:13 British Summer Time

An hour has been played and Novak Djokovic has seven aces, four for this set.

  17. 'Excellent return from Yastremska'published at 20:12 British Summer Time

    Yastremska 5-2 Gauff*

    Tracy Austin
Two-time Grand Slam champion on BBC TV

Dayana Yastremska plays another backhand down the line.

The reaction from Coco Gauff says it all.

She looks up at her team and wonders what she can do. It was an excellent return from Yastremska.

  18. Yastremska holdspublished at 20:10 British Summer Time

    Yastremska 5-2 Gauff*

Dayana Yastremska has really stepped up her level in the past couple of games.

Plenty of power but definitely more control - she leads 5-2 in the first set.

  19. Muller holdspublished at 20:10 British Summer Time

    Muller 1-6 3-3 Djokovic*

    Credit to Alexandre Muller.

He's shown some real spirit to stay in this second set, with Novak Djokovic making him fight for every point on serve.

Muller fights back from a break point down and is taken to deuce four times before finally holding.

  20. 'A very good opportunity to add to his tally'published at 20:09 British Summer Time

    *Muller 1-6 2-3 Djokovic

    Tim Henman
Former British number one on BBC One

I think Novak Djokovic would still be able to beat the top two on a grass court. On a clay court, over five hours, probably not at this stage in his career.

So I think he could, given his knowledge and know-how of grass court tennis. He has won seven times here and it is less physically demanding than the other surfaces.

I still think this is a very good opportunity for him to add to his Grand Slam tally.
