    Ready for some Monday action?

Yes, I'm aware it is Tuesday, I've spent the morning thinking of a pun around Johannus Monday's name and that's the best I could come up with.

Anyway, Monday is indeed in action. The 23-year-old from Hull is making his Wimbledon debut after receiving a wildcard and he's got just about a tough a start you can get against 13th seed Tommy Paul.

Monday has mostly played in ITF and Challenger tournaments, but boasts six wins out of six finals in the latter in his first season as a pro.

Heather Watson is just under way against Denmark's Clara Tauson on court 12.

It will be a tough test for the Brit taking on the 23rd seed, having fallen to 143rd in the world rankings.

Watson, 33, has struggled for a consistent run of form this year, but did recently come through qualifying at Queens and progressed to the round of 16 where she was beaten by world number 11 Elena Rybakina.

She has enjoyed her best grand slam runs at SW19 and reached the fourth round as recently as 2022.

Will she be able to use the home advantage against Tauson today?

The stands aren’t quite full here at court 12 but the support for Heather Watson is vocal.

Clara Tauson also has good backing here with a decent amount of Danish flags and national football team shirts on show.

A solid enough start for Watson.

  11. Another successful day ahead for the Brits?published at 11:04 British Summer Time 1 July

    Gary Rose
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

What a day for the British players it was on day one at Wimbledon, with seven going through to the next round - a record for on a single day in the Open era.

Will we beat that number today? It will be tough with nine Brits in action, so almost all of them going through seems a big ask.

But let's be positive! The sun is shining, the crowds are arriving in their numbers once more to cheer on the home players as we get going with another hot day at Wimbledon, although mercifully there’s more clouds in the sky today.

Jodie Burrage missed last year's Wimbledon through injury. She returns as a wildcard this year and is third on court 18 against American Caty McNally.
