There's a lot of outside noise spilling into court 11, with Frenchman Arthur Fils currently in action on Court Suzanne Lenglen. I'm not sure how much it's affecting the players during the points - if at all - but it's certainly loud enough.

Such an important game here for Sonay Kartal, who can't afford to give her opponent another head-start.

After Sonay Kartal's match, four other British players will be in second-round singles action on Thursday.

Katie Boulter and Jack Draper are on Court Philippe Chatrier - Boulter takes on Australian Open champion Madison Keys, while Draper plays home favourite Gael Monfils in the evening session.

Jacob Fearnley is fourth on Court Simonne Mathieu against French 22nd seed Ugo Humbert, while Cameron Norrie will be in action on court 13 against Argentine Federico Gomez.

Ah, a double fault for Sonay Kartal and that is the first set done and dusted in under 40 minutes.

Sonay Kartal is showing glimpses of what she can do on the odd point, but the consistency is still lacking - and Marie Bouzkova is taking full advantage.

Kartal decides to leave a forehand but Bouzkova manages to find the back of the court to bring up two set points.

Still no way through for Sonay Kartal on Marie Bouzkova's serve, however.

The Briton wins a point by following up a drop shot with an accurate forehand winner for 30-15, but Bouzkova outlasts her opponent in a final rally to hold from there.

It's likely too little, too late to rescue this first set, but hopefully she can build a bit of momentum here to carry into the rest of the match.

A comfortable hold to 15 will certainly help settle any lingering nerves.

Elsewhere at Roland Garros, Australian ninth seed Alex De Minaur has taken the first set against Alexander Bublik 6-2, while Czech 19th seed Jakub Mensik is a break up in his second-round match.

Czech Jiri Lehecka is a set up against Spanish 26th seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

In the women's draw, former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova has bageled Poland's 26th seed Magdalena Frech 6-0 in their first set.

Sonay Kartal hits wide and shrugs towards her team as Marie Bouzkova holds serve to love to take a commanding four-game lead.

It's just not happening for the Briton so far.

Marie Bouzkova taps over at the net to deny Sonay Kartal a first hold of serve, and then ends another lengthy 28-shot rally with a superb forehand down the line for break point.

And there it is, the double break. Kartal can't get across as Bouzkova dictates the point before finding the line with a huge forehand from the back of the court.
