We are going see Tatjana Maria getting in those slices a lot, whether it is a forehand or a backhand.

She likes getting herself forward, so we might even see some drop shots and some low short balls.

She will do anything to keep it out of Katie Boulter's strike zone.

The one thing Tatjana Maria has in her favour is that she has already played an event on the clay.

There's nothing like getting the dirt under your feet in match conditions.

This is a first match on the clay for Katie Boulter though... and it hasn't been the smoothest of starts for her.

    Boulter v Maria

British number one Katie Boulter doesn't have loads of experience on clay having not played a tour-level match on the surface before the Madrid Open last April.

Boulter has had a tricky year having not long since come back from a foot injury, which kept her sidelined for three months after the Australian Open.

She managed to get through to the third round at Indian Wells in March but was knocked out in the first round of the Miami Open two weeks later.

  9. Billie Jean King receives Hollywood Walk of Fame starpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 11 April

    Speaking of Billie Jean King...

The legendary tennis player and social equality advocate has received a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame.

King, 81, is the first woman to be given the honour in the new sports entertainment category.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame was previously reserved for stars of cinema, television, radio, theatre and music.

"The important thing is, I don't want to be the last one," said King.

"My family loved music and movies. My mother would have loved this."

Her star is the 2,807th to be installed on the Walk of Fame, which began in 1960 and runs along along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street in Los Angeles.

    Boulter v Maria

The German captain Rainer Schuttler got no dividend from Jule Niemeier’s two matches, but there was a feeling in the British team that he wanted to play her in the number two role again today so Tatjana Maria could take the number one spot.

That means a match with the British number 1 Katie Boulter. And even though Boulter has won all three of their previous meetings, Maria’s constant slice could be quite a weapon on this low bouncing court.

  11. 'I absolutely love this environment'published at 14:48 British Summer Time 11 April

    Kartal 6-4 6-2 Niemeier

Sonay Kartal speaking on court after beating Jule Niemeier on her Billie Jean King Cup debut: "I'm super proud of that debut match. It is obviously nerve-wracking when you're the first match on, but I'm proud of my performance. I think the crowd definitely stuck with me.

"I loved having the coach next to me, it is completely different for me. I also loved having the rest of the guys behind me on the bench. It is a different kind of tennis, but I absolutely love this environment.

"It's important getting that first win on the board and I have no doubt in Katie [Boulter]. She has been playing unbelievably in practice so I'm sure she is going to come out here and give her best. I fully back her."

    Kartal 6-4 6-2 Niemeier

Kartal has moved brilliantly well on this clay. That has been a problem for Niemeier as drop shots have been a key tactic of hers, but Kartal is very fast and very balanced.

It has been rock solid from the Brit. It took her a few games to find her feet but then she was off and running.

    What a debut!
