  1. Fognini breaks Alcarazpublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 30 June

    Alcaraz 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 1-2 Fognini*

Wowzers! Fabio Fognini breaks in the third set!

The Italian finds a couple of fine forehands from deuce onwards and Carlos Alcaraz cannot get them back over the net.

Problems, problems, problems for the defending champion.

  2. Klugman holdspublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 30 June

    *Fernandez 5-1 Klugman

Hannah Klugman will not suffer the indignity of a bagel on her debut Grand Slam appearance.

She holds to 15 to get her first game on the board in this match and pumps a fist to her camp.

Huge cheers from the British crowd as Leylah Fernandez hits into the net.

  3. Game and second set - Fonsecapublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 30 June

    *Fearnley 4-6 1-6 Fonseca

Jacob Fearnley gets his racquet to the serve this time but it flies horribly wide.

Joao Fonseca wraps up the second set in just 23 minutes.

  4. 'One of the slowest ever walks onto Centre Court'published at 15:55 British Summer Time 30 June

    *Alcaraz 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 1-1 Fognini

    Russell Fuller
Tennis correspondent on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

After the bathroom break at the end of the second set, that was one of the slowest walks I have ever seen on to Centre Court.

A lot of players are quite apologetic after taking a bathroom break in the middle of the match, but not Fognini. Even though he has just played a great set, it doesn't feel like he is going to knock out the defending champion.

  5. Set points Fonsecapublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 30 June

    Fearnley 4-6 1-5 Fonseca*

Joao Fonseca drills home his dominance with a couple of aces to lead 40-0 and earn three set points.

  6. 'Alcaraz is being very careless'published at 15:54 British Summer Time 30 June

    *Alcaraz 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 1-1 Fognini

    Tim Henman
Former British number one on BBC One

For me, Carlos Alcaraz is just being very careless.

He has set up points, and his forehand is such a great shot, but time and time again he has made the unforced errors.

His unforced error count is already up to 37 in just two sets.

  7. Fonseca breakspublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 30 June

    Fearnley 4-6 1-5 Fonseca*

Joao Fonseca goes big on his first attempt but it's too big and ends up long.

The world number 54 wastes his second opportunity when his slice strays wide.

But it's a familiar story when a Jacob Fearnley double fault hands over the break.

British qualifier Oliver Tarvet awaits the winner of the match on Centre Court after his first-round win earlier today.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live: "It's very special, I dreamed of this as a kid. I've come here since I was nine or 10 years old and having a chance to play Fognini or Alcaraz is really special.

"I'm trying to make the most of it. Either one will do!"

Meanwhile, Fabio Fognini gets on the board with a service hold to level things up in set three.

  9. Fernandez holdspublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 30 June

    Fernandez 5-0 Klugman*

Leylah Fernandez is in complete control of this opening set and holds on her service game yet again.

Hannah Klugman's forehand is long and Fernandez is 5-0 up after just 16 minutes.

Fernandez is in the zone and Klugman can't find a way to get into the match.

  10. Break points Fonsecapublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 30 June

    *Fearnley 4-6 1-4 Fonseca

Jacob Fearnley is up against it once again.

Joao Fonseca forces a passing shot down the line and has three break points.

  11. 'Plenty for the defending champion to ponder'published at 15:51 British Summer Time 30 June

    Alcaraz 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 1-0 Fognini*

    Tim Henman
Former British number one on BBC One

There is no reason to panic, but Carlos Alcaraz will be frustrated.

He had the opportunities to go two sets up but he is sitting down at the change of ends, swapping his shirt, and at one set all you can never take anything for granted in this sport.

You have to go out there and prove yourself every day. You have only got to be better than one player.

There will be plenty for the defending champion to ponder right now.

  12. Alcaraz holdspublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 30 June

    Alcaraz 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 1-0 Fognini*

Still a long way to go until the possibility of this really moves into view, but Carlos Alcaraz has never lost in the first round of a Grand Slam before - this is his 18th appearance at one of tennis' four majors.

The most recent men's singles champion to lose in the first round of their title defence at SW19 was Lleyton Hewitt, when he lost to Ivo Karlovic in 2003.

Alcaraz starts set three with a hold of serve.

  13. Fonseca holdspublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 30 June

    *Fearnley 4-6 1-4 Fonseca

Joao Fonseca found his groove on serve early in this match and has shown little in vulnerability.

It's more of the same from the 18-year-old as he holds to 15 and continue his charge towards taking the second set.

  14. Double break for Fernandezpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 30 June

    *Fernandez 4-0 Klugman

Leylah Fernandez holds to 15 in the next game, floating a delicate shot across the net which Hannah Klugman tries and fails to return.

It could be a very quick afternoon on Court 12.

  15. Fearnley holdspublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 30 June

    Fearnley 4-6 1-3 Fonseca*

Jacob Fearnley desperately needs to stop Joao Fonseca from winning a sixth successive game.

The Briton does it in style with a hold to love.

It slows Fonseca's progress but the Brazilian remains firmly in control.

  16. Postpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 30 June

    *Alcaraz 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 0-0 Fognini

    Jonathan Jurejko
BBC Sport senior tennis reporter at Wimbledon

Well, well, well. Who saw that coming as Alcaraz led by a break in the second set? Not me.

But Fognini kept his belief, continued to pull Alcaraz around the court and was helped by his opponent still not hitting his stride.

You know when Fognini is content. He struts. Oh boy, is he strutting now - sauntering back to his chair with chest out and shoulders back like a T-Bird.

  17. 'Forehand and serves have not quite clicked yet'published at 15:47 British Summer Time 30 June

    *Alcaraz 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 0-0 Fognini

    Pat Cash
Former Wimbledon champion on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

That was a great tie-breaker from Fognini, he served well. Alcaraz's serves and big forehand have not quite clicked yet, but there is plenty more of this match to go.

After an extended change of ends, following Fognini's exit from the court, we're about to get the third set under way.

  18. Fernandez holdspublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 30 June

    Fernandez 3-0 Klugman*

Canadian Leylah Fernandez has absolutely bamboozled Hannah Klugman in the first 10 minutes.

She holds to love in her second service game, finding the line effectively with Klugman unable to return.

Fernandez's shot just hits the top of the net and drops over with Klugman having no luck in the opening stages.

This is certainly a baptism of fire for the teenager.

  19. Fonseca holdspublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 30 June

    *Fearnley 4-6 0-3 Fonseca

    Joao Fonseca is flying now.

An ace - his third of the match - takes him to 30-15 before going on to get the hold.

The scoreboard is not looking good for Jacob Fearnley here.

  20. 'Fognini has done so well'published at 15:45 British Summer Time 30 June

    *Alcaraz 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 0-0 Fognini

    Tim Henman
Former British number one on BBC One

Fabio Fognini has done so well to get back into this match.

He did so well to finish that tie-break off from 6-2 to 6-5, but you can tell by his reaction that he felt Carlos Alcaraz would make that forehand to get it back to 6-6.

It wasn't the case and now it is one set all - we have got a match on our hands here.
