    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

The crowd are fully invested in aiding Harriet Dart’s cause here, and the Briton is absolutely responding.

Dart unleashes a big shout of ‘Come on!’ as she follows up her break back with a hard-earned hold of serve to hit the front in this decider at 3-2.

As the atmosphere builds on court 17, there’s no shortage of ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ reaching us from court 16 next door where 14th seed Andrey Rublev leads but has just lost the third set to Laslo Djere.

It’s suddenly become a very lively corner of the grounds!

  2. Boulter walks out onto Centre Courtpublished at 18:35 British Summer Time 30 June

    Paula Badosa v Katie Boulter

Centre Court has understandably emptied a bit after the marathon match between Carlos Alcaraz and Fabio Fognini, but there is still a good few spectators around to give Katie Boulter a warm welcome.

This match sees the British number two take on the Spanish number one in Paula Badosa.

It is a tough draw for Boulter in her opening match, but she enjoys the grass and will be hoping she can use that - and the home support - to her advantage.

  3. Raducanu breaks straight backpublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 30 June

    *Raducanu 6-3 3-1 Xu

As mentioned in the previous entry, 2023 champion Marketa Vondrousova is into the second round and she will play the winner of this match on Wednesday.

Emma Raducanu gets a chance to break straight back after losing her serve in the previous game, and she gets it when Xu nets a forehand.

  4. Around the groundspublished at 18:32 British Summer Time 30 June

Anastasija Sevastova is firmly in control of her first round match against Italian fourth seed Jasmine Paolini.

Sestova won the opening set 6-2 against last year's runner-up and has broken in the opening game of the second set to lead 1-0.

Marketa Vondrousova, who won the Wimbledon title in 2023, is through to round two after a 6-1 7-6 (7-3) win against American McCartney Kessler.

World number 62 Laslo Djere has just come through a mammoth tie-break to lead 15th seed Andrey Rublev 0-6 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (11-9)

  5. Dart holdspublished at 18:29 British Summer Time 30 June

    Dart 6-3 3-6 3-2 Galfi*

Dalma Galfi fist pumps as she sends a forehand down the line but Harriet Dart recovers to bring the game to deuce.

She eventually holds on her service game coming to the net to produce a looping forehand.

Galfi's return is long and Dart lets out a huge yelp of relief.

  6. Xu breakspublished at 18:28 British Summer Time 30 June

    Raducanu 6-3 2-1 Xu*

Emma Raducanu looked in complete control of this service game at 40-0, with a couple of aces thrown in for good measure, but Mimi Xu forces deuce and then hits the line with a forehand winner to bring up her first break point of the match...

And she gets it! Raducanu goes long with a lob and we're back on serve in set two.

  7. Postpublished at 18:25 British Summer Time 30 June

    *Raducanu 6-3 2-0 Xu

    Jess Anderson
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Cries of "ooooh" from the crowd as Mimi Xu slips over on the grass but quickly gets back up and looks OK.

That's the second time she has slipped over on the turf and this time it was to hand Emma Raducanu three break points.

Xu rallies brilliantly to get to deuce but after some to-ing and fro-ing, Raducanu takes the break of serve.

  8. 'A huge sigh of relief from Alcaraz'published at 18:23 British Summer Time 30 June

    Alcaraz 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 7-5 2-6 6-1 Fognini

    Tim Henman
Former British number one on BBC One

Carlos Alcaraz found a way - there is a huge sigh of relief from him.

It will probably be an important day on the practice court tomorrow to iron out a few of those kinks. He really struggled in all aspects of his game. There were so many uncharacteristic unforced errors from the back of the court.

But he found a way to get the win and he will be back on Wednesday.

  9. Raducanu breakspublished at 18:23 British Summer Time 30 June

    *Raducanu 6-3 2-0 Xu

Mimi Xu saves a fourth break point in the match with an ace out wide, but Emma Raducanu prevents her wrapping up the game with a sensational forehand down the line. A fifth deuce...

And with her fifth opportunity of the game, Raducanu secures the break of serve.

    Quinn 4-6 6-2 7-6 (13-11) 6-2 Searle

Henry Searle's Wimbledon race is run for another year.

A backhand return flies wide and Ethan Quinn seals the game to love, securing his place in the second round.

After a promising start, he threatened a comeback in a tense third set tie-break, but it was not to be for the 2023 boys singles champion and he bows out in the opening round.

  11. Dart down in deciderpublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 30 June

    Dart 6-3 3-6 1-2 Galfi*

    Harry Poole
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

First signs of frustration here from Harriet Dart, who smacks her shoe with her racquet after conceding the first break of serve in the final set to Dalma Galfi with a double fault.

Hot and bothered, the Briton then whacks the ground as she takes her chair for the change of ends. The crowd rally behind her, sensing she really needs them now.

  12. Xu saves three break pointspublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 30 June

    Raducanu 6-3 1-0 Xu*

That's gutsy, really gutsy by Mimi Xu.

There's an anxious moment for the 17-year-old as she stumbles while advancing to the net to volley. She is fine but the volley sails wide.

It brings up three break points for Emma Raducanu - but all three are saved by the Wimbledon debutant.

    Carlos Alcaraz has done it!

The defending champion was pushed all the way to a deciding fifth set by 38-year-old Fabio Fognini - but he found a way to win.

Smiles all round as the two players embrace at the net and there is a huge ovation for Fognini from the crowd on Centre Court after his final match at Wimbledon.

As the Italian bids farewell to the All England Club, Alcaraz will hope for improvements from here on in as he continues his hunt for a third win on the spin here.

  14. Galfi breaks in deciding setpublished at 18:17 British Summer Time 30 June

    *Dart 6-3 3-6 1-2 Galfi

Harriet Dart is chuntering to herself as Dalma Galfi breaks in the deciding set thanks to a double fault.

She hits her racket against her bag as she sits down and puts a towel with ice around her neck.

A lot of frustration on show from Dart.

  15. 'It is important to mix up your return position'published at 18:17 British Summer Time 30 June

    Raducanu 6-3 1-0 Xu*

    Anne Keothavong
Former British number one on BBC Two

The quality of Emma Raducanu's first serve has been incredible throughout this match. She is mixing in different things well.

When you're up against an opponent who is serving well, it is important to mix up your return position in the hope that it might upset their rhythm on serve. I think that's what Mimi Xu needs to do.

It's always the challenge for the lesser experienced player to stay with the higher ranked player. As soon as it gets away from you, it can feel like a huge mountain to climb.

  16. Alcaraz to serve for the matchpublished at 18:16 British Summer Time 30 June

    *Alcaraz 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 7-5 2-6 5-1 Fognini

Fabio Fognini avoids the bagel - and the way he's played this afternoon, that's the very least he deserves.

There's still time for some brilliance from the Italian with a couple of superb forehands.

Now, nearly four and a half hours since they began, Carlos Alcaraz will serve for the match.

  17. 'It felt like there was a lot of uncertainty'published at 18:14 British Summer Time 30 June

    Alcaraz 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 7-5 2-6 5-0 Fognini*

    Tim Henman
Former British number one on BBC One

It really felt like there was a lot of uncertainty at the beginning of this fifth set, with Carlos Alcaraz being totally out of sorts.

But, as has been the case throughout his career in five set matches, his record is absolutely phenomenal.

He has created and taken opportunities, held his serve and now he finds himself up 5-0 in the fifth set.

Emma Raducanu rattles through another service game to take an early lead in set two.

  19. Dart going the distancepublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 30 June

    Dart 6-3 3-6 1-0 Galfi*

    Harry Poole
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Harriet Dart is going to have to go the distance against Hungary’s Dalma Galfi, who is also well supported here on court 17 and shakes her fist towards her team.

After an hour and 20 minutes, the crowd aren’t going anywhere as the majority hope to motivate Dart over the line.

Galfi, the slight underdog by ranking, is a powerful player and proving really tricky to handle as Dart contends with her opponent, the conditions, and the expectations of her home crowd.

  20. 'The worst thing that could have happened to Fognini'published at 18:12 British Summer Time 30 June

    Alcaraz 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 7-5 2-6 5-0 Fognini*

    Pat Cash
Former Wimbledon champion on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

It is unfortunate what has happened in the crowd, but it was the worst thing that could have happened for Fognini. He was really in that match and hitting the ball so well.

He just lost the momentum. This sport is so much about momentum and Alcaraz has it now.
