Alfie Hewett looks a relieved man on court three as he raises his racquet to the stands.

He continues his quest for an elusive Wimbledon men's wheelchair singles title, and will face either Argentine third seed Gustavo Fernandez or the Netherlands' Tom Egberink in the semi-finals.

But I'm worried about his potential shoulder injury. Hewett needed a medical timeout halfway through the first set.

It looked Alfie Hewett was going to claim a routine win after brushing Stephane Houdet aside in the opening set but the Briton was made to work much harder in the second.

A hold to 15 after a unforced forehand error from Houdet was enough to bring an end to the match.

A huge cheer from Hewett who will be pleased to finally have this one done and dusted as he moves to the semi-finals of the men's wheelchair singles.

Croatia, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Russia, Serbia, Spain all have one player left in, while Italy are the only nation to have two - Jasmine Paolini in the women’s and Lorenzo Musetti in the men’s.

Indeed, these are peak times for Italian tennis.

The men’s team are the current holders of the Davis Cup, Jannik Sinner is top of the world rankings and three years ago Matteo Berrettini became the first Italian to reach a Wimbledon singles final.

And now Paolini has become the first Italian to reach the women’s singles semi-finals at Wimbledon.

Can she respond in this second set? Donna Vekic has been in the ascendency so far.
