Swiatek thought she had the backhand down the line nailed but instead it slams into the net and there's the break back for Anisimova.

The Arthur Ashe crowd are very much on the side of the American and she is riding that wave of momentum right now.

Can she hold serve this time?

Anisimova is not going away and after a much better service game she brings up break back points on the Swiatek serve.

  3. 'Much better from Anisimova'published at 22:31 British Summer Time 3 September

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

That was a much better game from Anisimova. I felt like she was teetering, she was losing her grip but actually she got it back on track quite quickly - she got the serve firing and the backhand was looking sensational again. She started to think clearly again.

    Anisimova 6-4 1-2 Swiatek*

It's difficult for anyone to match Swiatek's levels of intensity and we are perhaps just seeing a little dip here from Anisimova as the Polish second seed moves to 15-30.

A big serve and a big return get her out of trouble and she gets herself on the board in set two.

No signs of that intensity dropping from Swiatek and she consolidates the break of serve with a hold to 30.

  6. 'Swiatek drawing on her experience'published at 22:23 British Summer Time 3 September

    Anisimova 6-4 0-1 Swiatek*

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

I think Swiatek was drawing on all her experience in that opening game, to come out of the blocks quickly, aggressively, everything deep to the baseline struck with authority, trying to set the tone, as much psychologically as anything else.

  7. Swiatek breaks in opening gamepublished at 22:19 British Summer Time 3 September

    Anisimova 6-4 0-1 Swiatek*

Whatever Swiatek said to herself during that little break between sets has worked.

She takes the break of serve in Anisimova's opening service game.

That being said, the same thing happened in set one.

    *Anisimova 6-4 0-0 Swiatek

    Annabel Croft

Thirteen winners [for Anisimova] compared to just seven for Swiatek, that kind of sums it up.

Look at the second serve points we have - 28% behind second serves for Swiatek, and that is where the damage was being done by Anisimova. She was middling every return with eyes like a hawk.

    Anisimova 6-4 0-0 Swiatek

Swiatek has left the court at the end of set one.

Anisimova is up and practicing her serve swing at the baseline, chatting with her coaching box and doing a couple of stretches.

She will be keen to keep going with this momentum.

  11. Ansimova wins set one in a 'meditative state'published at 22:12 British Summer Time 3 September

    *Anisimova 6-4 0-0 Swiatek

    Annabel Croft

My goodness did she earn that set!

That was absolutely breathtaking the way she has struck the ball. She has gone into an almost golden, meditative state and she has struck every ball into the corners.

A big serve which Anisimova can't get under control wipes out one set point...

But Swiatek can't do anything about the second as she sends her return long.

What a brilliant set of tennis from both players but wow, huge credit to Anisimova for producing that after the disappointment of the Wimbledon final.

  13. Anisimova set pointspublished at 22:09 British Summer Time 3 September

    Anisimova 5-4 Swiatek*

"Aggressive footwork" and "intensity" is the message from Anisimova's coaching box.

The message seems to get through as the American brings up two set points on the Swiatek serve after some quality returning.

  14. 'Wawrinka-style' tennis from Anisimovapublished at 22:07 British Summer Time 3 September

    Anisimova 5-4 Swiatek*

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

Obviously she is in her home slam and there is a lot of support for her, but Anisimova's tennis is that crowd pleasing, bludgeoning style, almost [Stan] Wawrinka-style. It really gets the crowd going when she connects with the ball.

Swiatek gets back to deuce but Anisimova holds her nerve and produces more brilliant shots to take the hold and nudge back ahead.

Swiatek will serve to stay in the first set.

Super forehand winner from Swiatek for game point and she takes the hold with a big first serve.

Really good level of tennis we're seeing here.

  18. Swiatek saves break pointpublished at 21:59 British Summer Time 3 September

    Anisimova 4-3 Swiatek*

Swiatek saves break point with some relentless tennis. Anisimova does well to keep the ball in play but Swiatek pounces on the looping ball at the net and her driving forehand takes us back to deuce.

  19. Anisimova break pointpublished at 21:57 British Summer Time 3 September

    Anisimova 4-3 Swiatek*

Ouch. A double fault from Swiatek hands Anisimova a break point.

  20. Postpublished at 21:57 British Summer Time 3 September

    Anisimova 4-3 Swiatek*

A brilliant pick-up from Swiatek takes her to 30-15 but Anisimova is attacking the Pole's second serve and it pays off as she levels with a forehand winner down the line.

Swiatek gets back on track but again Anisimova produces a sublime backhand for deuce.
