The German is causing all kinds of trouble for sixth seed Madison Keys early in this opening set.

Having already traded breaks once, Siegemund has again broken the serve of the Australian Open champion with a tricky slice forehand dropping too short for Keys to pick up.

Parry takes the chance to halt the run of games from Kartal. That will make her feel a lot better, but she still has a mountain to climb.

It will be interesting to see how Kartal will handle the pressure of the occasion.

  8. 'Kartal finding all the spaces in the court'published at 14:19 British Summer Time 4 July

    *Parry 4-6 0-4 Kartal

    Laura Robson
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

Sonay Kartal is just reading the plays of her opponent now and always seeming to pick the right side at the right moment.

She is clearly feeling confident and free enough in her own game to go for these little dippers and angles. She is finding all the spaces in the court that you don't often see players finding.

  9. 'Fritz looks comfortable out there'published at 14:18 British Summer Time 4 July

    Fritz 5-3 Davidovich Fokina*

    Ryan Harrison
Former American tennis player on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

Taylor Fritz looks comfortable out there on court. He also looks like he is on a mission.

He had two five-setters in the opening rounds so a quick match today, if he is able to make it through, would go a long way for his chances of going deep into this tournament.

If this is another long match, his body will start to physically suffer. You can't have a really successful deep run if you're putting that much time out on the court.

    Rublev 5-4 Mannarino*

Andrey Rublev picks up a point on the Adrian Mannarino serve with a forehand winner, but the Frenchman gets the hold nonetheless.

Rublev shows a hint of frustration as he drops his shoulders and looks to his coach at 15-15 on serve. That frustration continues to build after a double fault and Rublev is asked to defend the first break point of the match.

The Russian has to save three break points en route to securing the hold. The first test for the 14th seed is passed.

Once again, Parry finds herself under pressure on her own serve.

  15. 'Kartal has a bit of swagger to her walk'published at 14:12 British Summer Time 4 July

    *Parry 4-6 0-2 Kartal

    Laura Robson
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

Sonay Kartal has got a bit of swagger to her walk and it just kind of fits with her personality. She is very much all business.

I love chatting to her because she is so dry and sarcastic, but at the same time she doesn't waste any energy on things that aren't important.

When you see her playing, it's exactly that. She never gets too emotional either way. She doesn't panic and is really good at staying calm.

  16. 'Kartal charge continues'published at 14:12 British Summer Time 4 July

There's a real air of confidence about the way 37-year-old Adrian Mannarino is approaching his service games. A hold to love puts the pressure back on Andrey Rublev.

Rublev responds with his own hold to love.

Neither player has dropped a point across the past three service games.
