    *Parry 3-1 Kartal

Sonay Kartal gets on the board but that was hard work.

She's taken to 40-30 after a weak serve but the Frenchman balloons a return wide to give Kartal the hold.

    The Brit really needed that.

Important for Sonay Kartal to get on the board there and there's a huge cheer around court one as she does so. That will lift her confidence.

I’m here on Court Two for the resumption of the second round match between Ben Shelton and Rinky Hijikata.

Shelton would rather have had it all wrapped up last night, but the match was called off for bad light at 9:29pm, just as he was preparing to serve for the match.

That decision from the chair umpire was met with some fury from the American 10th seed, but tournament director Jamie Baker defended the call, saying it was "extremely dark".

So out they’ve come in the early afternoon sun, with Shelton hoping to get it done and dusted in a matter of minutes.

Who knows - the warm-up could well take longer than the conclusion of the match.

So much slice coming from the racket of Parry. She uses the single-handed back hand so well. She has one of the best on the women's tour.

    A really classy tennis player.

  5. Parry holdspublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 4 July

    Parry 3-0 Kartal*

It's a really strong start from Diane Parry.

The French qualifier keeps hold to 30 and the pressure's on Sonay Kartal now to get on the board.

  6. Parry no pushoverpublished at 13:22 British Summer Time 4 July

    *Parry 2-0 Kartal

    Gary Rose
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

36 seeds tumbled in the first four days of Wimbledon, with Diane Parry claiming one of those. She may have come through qualifying but she's no pushover, as she is proving here.

  7. 'First serve percentage key for Kartal'published at 13:22 British Summer Time 4 July

    *Parry 2-0 Kartal

    Laura Robson
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

First serve percentage is going to be really key for Sonay Kartal today. She doesn't have the most powerful serve, but she can place it really nicely.

So if she can keep that first serve percentage up, it will make sure that Diane Parry cannot get on top of her second serve.

  8. Parry breakspublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 4 July

    *Parry 2-0 Kartal

Diane Parry gets the early break and Sonay Kartal will be ruing that one.

The Brit hit two consecutive aces before a double fault took it to deuce.

Parry, with a break point, hits a sumptuous forehand winner to go a break up.

  9. 'Mentally tough'published at 13:19 British Summer Time 4 July

    Pavlyuchenkova 3-6 6-4 6-4 Osaka

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, speaking on court: "It was a very tough match in general. I felt like I was behind for the majority of the match, so I played point-by-point.

"It's actually very slow out there but maybe that helped today. I'm incredibly happy because I was mentally tough in the three matches that I have won.

"I'm usually not so good on grass. The majority of you were cheering for Naomi [Osaka] today but it's OK. As I said, I'm mentally tough so it's OK."

  10. 'Parry enjoys the big stage'published at 13:19 British Summer Time 4 July

    Parry 1-0 Kartal*

    Laura Robson
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

I think Diane Parry enjoys the big stage. She will be used to it from Roland Garros for sure, she is always a fan favourite over there.

The way that she plays really suits grass as well because she's able to throw in the backhand slice, she has a gorgeous one-hander. When she's got time, she can certainly go for height and go for a bit of top spin.

  11. Postpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 4 July

    Pavlyuchenkova 3-6 6-4 6-4 Osaka

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova really struggled in the opening set but made the required adjustments to come through.

She will face either Briton Sonay Kartal or qualifier Diane Parry in the fourth round.

Almost the early break for Sonay Kartal but Diane Parry got the job done with some decent serving and a variety of shots to fend off break point and seal the hold.

A somewhat interesting fact about Kartal - she has 14 tattoos - a mixture of quotes, significant dates and a pawprint of her first dog, but is open to getting a 15th one that is Wimbledon related. She insisted not a strawberry, but any other thoughts?

Well, what an opening game that was.

Diane Parry holds after saving a break point but that was a really encouraging start from Sonay Kartal.

That first game took nearly seven minutes, so buckle up for the remainder of the set.

  16. 'A quality opening game'published at 13:14 British Summer Time 4 July

A quality opening game from both women.

Kartal needs to be weary of the Parry serve. Parry has sent down 14 aces so far in the tournament, the most of any woman.

  17. Match point Pavlyuchenkovapublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 4 July

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova stays consistent through a tense rally and Naomi Osaka eventually slips up.

Pavlyuchenkova leads 15-30 but Osaka responds with an ace for 30-30.

Osaka hooks wide with a forehand and will have to defend match point.

A slight delay to the action resuming at the crucial point is far from ideal for the players.

Off we go with Naomi Osaka serving to say in the match.

And if you turn around there’s a decent doubles match taking place between fifth seeds Diana Shnaider and Mirra Andreeva against American Quinn Gleeson and Brazilian partner Ingrid Martins.

Place to be this, I reckon.

A wander around in the sun today has resulted in stumbling across defending champ Carlos Alcaraz having a hit before his match later on.

There are security guards making sure it doesn’t get too packed down here as fans clamber for a look at the Spaniard.
