It all started in Carlos Alcaraz's opening service game in that second set.

He played a really loose game and from there he is just chasing the second set. He had break point opportunities at 3-2 but he just couldn't convert them. He made a lot of unforced errors.

Fabian Marozsan executed things brilliantly in that final game, he didn't show any sign of nerves.

Carlos Alcaraz puts his hands to his mouth in anguish as he chips a forehand long and Fabian Marozsan goes on to bring up two set points.

He takes them at the first opportunity, smashing a forehand in close at the net which sees the Spaniard unable to keep it in play.

Who saw this coming after the first set? We are level at a set apiece on Court Philippe Chatrier.

  3. 'Alcaraz's ball speed isn't quite where you would expect it to be'published at 14:08 British Summer Time 28 May

    *Marozsan 1-6 5-4 Alcaraz

    Leon Smith

Fabian Marozsan is taking his forehand really well at the moment.

It seems like he's got a bit more time than you would expect, as Carlos Alcaraz's ball speed and tempo isn't quite where you would expect it to be.

Marozsan has got quite a big wind up on his technique which allows him to produce a lot of speed through the ball. Alcaraz just needs to hit with a bit more quality if he's going into that side.

  4. Borges takes third set against Ruudpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 28 May

    Ruud 6-2 4-6 1-6 0-0 Borges*

Two-time Roland Garros finalist Casper Ruud won the first set against Nuno Borges fairly comfortably, but has dropped the next two sets on Court Suzanne Lenglen.

Ruud received some treatment at the end of the third set, which may be a contributing factor.

    *Marozsan 1-6 5-4 Alcaraz

Fabian Marozsan forces Carlo Alcaraz wide as the television cameras show a determined look on the Hungarian's face.

The pair then trade some acute shots at the net as the game goes to deuce, but Alcaraz secures the hold as Marozsan puts a backhand wide.

Marozsan will now serve for the second set and the chance to level the match.

  6. Alcaraz's game 'littered with unforced errors'published at 14:03 British Summer Time 28 May

If Carlos Alcaraz can just improve maybe 10% or 15% then I think he will be able to break back and refocus, but his game is littered with unforced errors at the moment.

He is being very animated. I think he senses that he needs to knuckle down right now to get this game and get himself back on the right track.

A backhand down the line opens up a 0-30 lead for Carlos Alcaraz before Fabian Marozsan fights back.

The Hungarian then comes into the net to land a crisp volley and holds as Alcaraz can't keep a backhand in play on the stretch.

Marozsan has bitten down in this second set and is now potentially one game away from levelling the match.

A double fault gifts Carlos Alcaraz a 0-30 lead, before he earns three break points as a Fabian Marozsan drop shot clips the net.

Alcaraz mumbles some words of frustration to himself as the first two slip away, before a wide forehand sends the game to deuce.

A fourth break point evades Alcaraz as the pair trade points, before he goes long with a forehand and Marozsan holds.

  10. 'Great to see a player that is willing to come forward'published at 13:48 British Summer Time 28 May

    *Marozsan 1-6 3-2 Alcaraz

    Leon Smith

    That's a brilliant cross-court volley!

Carlos Alcaraz had a long look at the line there but finally became at peace with the line call. He thought the first volley from Fabian Marozsan had gone long but it hit the line.

Marozsan had to win the point three times at the net there, such were the retrieving skills of Alcaraz.

It is great to see a player that is willing to come forward because you have to change things up if you're going to spring an upset.

Job done for Jodie Burrage and Sonay Kartal.

The British duo fought back from a set down against China's Hanyu Guo and Japan's Ena Shibahara to win 6-7 (5-7) 7-5 6-3 in a rain-disrupted display.

There's a very good chance that they could face the top seeds - Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend - in the next round.

Anyway, Kartal can rest for an hour or two now before heading to her rescheduled tattoo appointment.

  13. Game and second set - Borgespublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 28 May

    *Ruud 6-2 4-6 0-0 Borges

After sweeping through the first set comfortably, Casper Ruud has lost the second set against Nuno Borges.

Portugal's Borges broke for a 3-2 lead and that was enough of a cushion to see him through the set, although he did have to save two break points before serving it out.

It seems like Ruud is going to have to do this the hard way.

    Russell Fuller
Tennis correspondent on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

Fabian Marozsan has some pedigree on the tour, there's no doubt about that.

He has actually won six of his 14 matches against top-10 players. He has never won against a top-10 player at a Grand Slam, but that's quite a record for a player that is quite early in their ATP Tour career.

Fabian Marozsan could do with consolidating his break here to build up some momentum, but Carlos Alcaraz is back on his game quickly to force deuce.

Marozsan gets the better of a back-and-forth rally which sees Alcaraz attempt another between-the-legs shot, before holding as the Spaniard goes long.

    Marozsan showed good resilience there.

Thankfully the rain didn't last long - as quick as a cat-lick morning shower when you've overslept the alarm.

Covers are being hauled off on the outer courts and play looks set to start shortly.

Matches which will resume include Ukrainian 13th seed Elina Svitolina against Hungary's Anna Bondar, plus the doubles match featuring British pair Jodie Burrage and Sonay Kartal.

The duo are one game away from winning their first-round match - which the scheduling of meant Kartal had to change a tattoo appointment today...

Fabian Marozsan then earns two break points before taking advantage as Alcaraz goes into the net.

An early twist in this second set.

  20. Ruud takes first set against Borgespublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 28 May

    *Ruud 6-2 2-4 Borges

Two-time French Open runner-up Casper Ruud is a set to the good against Portugal's Nuno Borges on Court Suzanne Lenglen.

Norway's Ruud, who lost in the 2022 and 2023 finals, won his very first ATP 1,000 title in Madrid earlier this month when he defeated Britain's Jack Draper.

Borges, meanwhile, is looking to reach the third round at Roland Garros for the first time.

The Portuguese player has broken first in the second set and grabbed himself a 4-2 lead.
