A huge roar from Eva Vedder as she takes the hold.

Another brutal service game that she does well to come through.

    Oh dear.

Eva Vedder's forehand takes a clip off the net and it looks long. The line judge called it out as such but the chair umpire overruled the call and came down to have a look. She points out a mark on the clay to Sonay Kartal which backs up her point but the replays show it was in fact well long and the umpire clearly had the wrong mark there.

Frustrating for Kartal as that would've given her a break point.

    What a rally!

Sonay Kartal is scrambling around the court, chasing down some heavy Eva Vedder forehands. But Kartal whips one past her and there's a wry smile as we head to deuce.

Vedder hasn't been able to get any retraction on the return in this set.

She has had to cling onto her services games but this was an opportunity to put the pressure on Kartal instead and she didn't take it.

Kartal is keeping her nose in front but fair play to Vedder, she is still very much in this.

  5. Kartal holdspublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 12 April

    Kartal 6-4 4-3 Vedder*

Hello, can Eva Vedder apply some pressure to Sonay Kartal here?

She has an opening at 30-30 but Kartal eases away to take the hold.

  6. 'Vedder is trying to cut any errors out'published at 14:33 British Summer Time 12 April

    *Kartal 6-4 3-3 Vedder

    Naomi Cavaday
Former British tennis player on BBC Red Button

Eva Vedder really isn't trying to be too aggressive on her strike right now.

It looks like she's really trying to cut any errors out of her game.

I think she would welcome a more comfortable service hold.

  7. Vedder holdspublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 12 April

    *Kartal 6-4 3-3 Vedder

Sonay Kartal not happy with that backhand as she watches it dump into the net.

Less of a slog for Eva Vedder in that service game with a hold to 15.

    Kartal 6-4 3-2 Vedder*

    Naomi Cavaday
Former British tennis player on BBC Red Button

A very comfortable hold for Kartal.

You can really see the difference in service games. There is no stress whatsoever for Kartal on serve, but Vedder is having to battle through.

But Vedder does battle and she hasn't been broken so far in this set.

  9. Kartal holds to lovepublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 12 April

    Kartal 6-4 3-2 Vedder*

Well after that very tough hold for Eva Vedder, there's no such trouble for Sonay Kartal, who takes the hold to love comfortably.

It feel like Kartal has been on the brink of breaking Vedder throughout this second set but hasn't quite managed to get over the line. Can she strike now?

  10. 'Vedder not allowing Kartal to get away'published at 14:27 British Summer Time 12 April

    *Kartal 6-4 2-2 Vedder

    Naomi Cavaday
Former British tennis player on BBC Red Button

Kartal is trying to force her way out of the trouble of Vedder's forehand but there is often too much space for her to close down.

It takes an awful lot to get past Sonay Kartal but Vedder is keeping at it and she is getting there in the end. Vedder is not allowing her to stretch away.

However, Kartal is taking Anne Keothavong's advice of taking it down the line, and it seems to be taking Vedder by surprise.

A brilliant backhand strike down the line from Sonay Kartal takes us to deuce but she overhits on the next point to give Eva Vedder game point.

A big serve from Vedder gets her out of trouble to take the hold. A tough hold at that.

    Kartal 6-4 2-1 Vedder*

Eva Vedder has Sonay Kartal scrambling back and forth across the baseline and somehow the Briton keeps fending her off.

  13. 'Kartal bounces back'published at 14:20 British Summer Time 12 April

    Kartal 6-4 2-1 Vedder*

    Naomi Cavaday
Former British tennis player on BBC Red Button

Kartal is putting some big points on the board. But the good speed from Vedder is making it harder for Kartal to find a way around her.

Kartal is doing well to bounce back as she will have felt disheartened not to get the break in the previous game. She'll be glad to get her service game under her wing.

  14. Kartal holdspublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 12 April

    Kartal 6-4 2-1 Vedder*

Could that be the boost that Eva Vedder needed?

She claws a point off the Sonay Kartal serve but fires long to concede the hold to 15. Kartal will want to get back on track after the disappointment of that last game.

    Naomi Cavaday

That's brilliant from Eva Vedder - and she gets a chance to really let out a roar!

A massive hold from 0-40, just as Sonay Kartal was looking to stretch away.

You could feel the energy shifting but will that put a stop to it?

    Kartal 6-4 1-0 Vedder*

    Naomi Cavaday
Former British tennis player on BBC Red Button

It is tough for Eva Vedder because, when you look at that first set, she just made too many errors in that final game.

Kartal is continuing from where she left off in set one so it will be important for Vedder to just steady things here.

It does feel like the energy is shifting towards the Great Britain end at the moment.

  19. Postpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 12 April
